I have a leak in my bedroom slide. Does anyone know the proper way to remove the roof awning covering the slide soI have access to the entire seam. Also I Buskoted my roof this past summer and have extra material left over. I was thinking of using the buskote sealer and tape to repair this leak, and than do the entire buskote treatment on the slide roof. Any pros or cons on doing this?

In my opinion, the buskote may create a "rough" surface on the top of your slide which would damage the rubber seal that surrounds the slide as it moves in & out. You want to keep all surfaces of your slides as smooth as possible (I wax mine) so as not to damage the seal.

Thanks Fred, that makes alot of sense. I know the seal around my skylite is not the smoothest job, but it did stop the leak. How do you remove the awning?

On my ZipDee LR awning, I had to take the forward endcap off and unwind the awning. Becareful of the tension on the awning and count the number of revolutions, so you know how many revolutions to rewind during reassembly. I added a couple of revolutions to tighten it up a bit. As I recall, I rewound to 18 revs.

We had a similar leak a couple years back. The Country Coach techs disconnected the (Zip Dee) awning arms from the slideout wall, unwound the spring tension and laid the awning roller (with material and arms still attached) on the coach roof while they cleaned the slideout roof resealed the leaking seam.

Mine is a carefree and by going to their site- they give good instructions on how to remove. Just make sure you pin the spring recoil at the start.

Hi all. I am looking for a wind control box for a Carefree of Colorado awning. It is part number 060427-003. I have power going into the box, but the awning will not activate. I can also jump the box with a battery and the awning will extend. So my best guess is the box. Any ideas or suggestions other than to get rid of the awnings?
