Malibu Beach RV Park

Yahoo Message Number: 76633
Hello All,

We are trying to find a place to stay for a few days near our nephew in Sherman Oaks. It looks like the closest park that is in a nice area is Malibu Beach RV Park.

Has anyone stayed there? Reviews? Any other suggestions?

Thank you for your help,

Marta

Thanks Jurhee,

RVParkReviews is my favorite also and where I found Malibu Beach RV Park. However, as is sometimes the case, the reviews vary wildly and was hoping for a CC Owner perspective

As I am fairly new to the RV lifestyle, does anyone know of an organization or have any of you ever attended country music festivals where RV camping is available right on the site of the festival? I know there is a huge country music festival on the campgrounds in Oshkosh, WI in July, but I was curious if anyone has done this or can make suggestions as to the best way to find out about these types of things?? thanking you all,
Jan

Jan,

I don't know of any, but I'm writing to say thanks for the heads up re the Oshkosh, WI country music festival! I'll see what I can find out about that one online and hope we can attend since we like country music and the country music folks!

Thanks!

Hi Jan,

Above is a link to the Swannee River Jam. We have stayed there for the festival and had a blast. It fills up fast so make camping reservations as soon as possible. I would imagine that is true of most festivals. This one gets some big acts, so far 2012 has Trace Adkins, Randy Travis, Josh Turner, Joe Nichols, Craig Morgan more to be added.
In response to your request I put in "country music festival" into Yahoo and there was a huge return for 2012. Do not know one site specific to festivals.
That said below is a link to Event Crazy that we use for planning trips. Put in the city and dates you will be there and it comes up with lots of festivals and special events.

Hope that helps,

Marta

Jan,

I know there's one in Blythe, CA (near Quartzite, AZ) every January. I believe it is one stop on a southwest Bluegrass festival circuit followed by many enthusiasts every winter. Just google "Blythe bluegrass" for more information.

Many, if not all, encourage onsite RV parking (for a price).

Here's a specific web page that lists many of the southwest events: http://www.s-w-b-a.com/links/Bluegrass_Festivals.htm --

We stayed at the Bluegrass RV park in Franklin, KY a few times this past year and understand they have several festivals and jams throughout the year - nice facility. Also, Kerrville of course, has their annual folk festival (http://www.kerrville-music.com/rvinfo.htm).

Marta,

I know Van Nuys would probably not fall under the category of "nice", but it will be very convenient to Sherman Oaks. You might want to consider Birmingham RV. We stayed there for a few months while my girlfriend is finishing up some classes at the local university. The owners are super helpful and it will certainly cut down the amount of time you spend in traffic which can be pretty bad around here.

Thanks, Jim.

We were just looking at that one. I should have used a better word than "nice" when I meant low crime :-)! It is good to hear someone from the group has stayed there. We are 42' with 4 slides do you think that will be an issue?

Thanks again for your help.

Marta, the park is an older park so the spaces are pretty small in general. They do have some larger spaces in the back and up front. The park owner is great for finding spots or making room for the short term guests.
Honestly, I like staying in nice places myself when we travel and I think I would normally would have passed on this park on based on the area and it being an older park, but after having been there for a while, it's a great place that you will feel very safe at. The owners make a big effort to keep it that way. Good luck.
