Determining Price for Pre-Owned Allure

Yahoo Message Number: 5707
What is the best way to determine the current value of a motor home that I am considering purchasing? Getting the wholesale price considering all the options that the motor home contains would be the most usefull. What I really want is a good and fair place to start with on negotiations.

Go to your local bank or credit union and ask to look at the NADA book for RV's. The online NADA is off and will not give you the wholesale value. I would start at the basic coach (w/o options) wholesale value to start your negotiations. Depending on how old the vehicle, you may want to adjust for things that have to be replaced or in need of repair. If you can negotiate to a price within 5-8% of the wholesale value in the NADA book, then you have a good deal. I did it this way a year ago when we negotiated the purchased of a used 2000 Allure at Lazy Days for 7% about the wholesale value.

The NADA is a good place to start, but it's only a start. When we bought our coach,

an extremely valuable resourse was http://www.rv.org/.
J. D. Galant, the author of books sold through this website, is touted as the Ralph

Nader of the RV industry, and I have no reason to question his credentials, as he rated

most Country Coaches in his "Green Book" as 4-5 stars on a scale of
1-5. I'm sure

you'll find any of his publications most enlightening, particularly "How to Select,

Inspect, and Buy and RV"
