House battery/Charged by Alternator

It should happen by itself if everything is working properly. On most MH's when the engine is started and the oil pressure rises it activates a pressure switch. The pressure switch give a ground circuit for a Solenoid and allows it to energize tying the chassis and house batteries together.

Most likely you have a echo charger that passes charging current from chassis to house batteries. The Alternator is most likely connected to only the chassis battery. The echo charger should be somewhere within your battery compartment. Find your operating book for it or look it up on line. The indicator lights will tell you the charging pass through state of your system. The echo charger has to see specific voltages at the chassis and house batteries for it to work properly. Otherwise, there is no pass through from one set of batteries to the other. A shorted cell or too low of voltage in any of the batteries will automatically put the echo charger in a protection mode to protect the chassis battery to keep it from being drained.
Read and understand the operation of the echo charger. Let us know what you find.

Jim, isn't the other way around? My wiring diagram shows that the Echo Charger charges the chassis battery from the house side.

The echo charger charges the chassis batts from the house batts. Not the other way around. The question was how to charge the house batts with the alternator.. Don't worry with the Echo charger, It's not your problem. Either your pressure switch or solenoid is bad or you have a open circuit such as a bad ground somewhere in the circuit that is keeping the boost solenoid from energizing. Try your boost switch, if you have one, and that should activate the solenoid that I am talking about.

Thanks for the responses, I have found the boost solenoid and do have power to the solenoid, but its not operating. The boost switch and the oil pressure switch are working.
Does anyone know what part number it would be for the solenoid and/or where to get a replacement?

How do you know if the boost switch and the oil pressure switch are working if the solenoid is not?
There are two distinct avenues of voltage to the solenoid. One is control voltage which activates the solenoid, and the other is the charging voltage from the chassis battery (shared charge from the alternator). When you indicated that you do have power to the solenoid, is it on the control side or on the charging side?
As Kevin said below, if you press the boost switch, does the solenoid activate (click)?
My solenoid gets sticky from time to time. I can free it up by pressing the boost button.

You are correct and sorry for the confusion. I ran across one a few months ago on a friend's SOB coach and the two power leads on the echo charger were hooked up backwards. I did not take the time to see what it was actually doing connected that way. I assume it is possible to reverse the limited charge current. I changed the leads around to the way they should be and the echo charger started working and he had a steady green light.
