Floor Heating

For those who have the radiant floor heating. Do you set the temp a little higher than the temp you want in the coach or a little lower? Or is it something that you constantly have to change/alter depending on your likes/dislikes or outside temps....just curious

We generally set it quite a bit higher as the temp in the coach is usually several degrees cooler than the floor and we have two heat mats under a full tile floor; no carpeting

If we need heat in the coach we set the temp on the floor heat to 95. If it's cool at night 79.

My wife likes warm feet and says the heated floors are the best thing about the coach! We set the temp to 90 - 93 degrees. At this temp, the whole coach stays warm with outside temps in the 50s and above. Always good to have a happy wife!

The temperature on the floor heat is the temperature you want on the floor. There is sensor in the floor for each zone. It is not ROOM or air temperature. It has no reference as to the actual temperature in the coach. Therefore if it warms up outside and there is not much heat loss , either from the occupied space or the basement, and some of the floor heat goes down , it will maintain the temperature of the floor you have selected. We love our floor heat, but you continually have to adjust the setting temperature, depending on outside conditions. Your body is 98.6 and the floor won't feel warm on your feet until you are within about 10 degrees of body temperature. Setting the floor at 70 degrees, won't do much for FEELING the floor temp. I usually look at the weather forecast and set it accordingly. Since my wife likes it quiet at night, I try to do most of the heating with the floor and trim with the Aquahot, for the least possible fan operation. The other issue, is that the floor sensors on my 2 zones are not 100% accurate, so I adjust accordingly. If it warms up during the day, we usually shut the floor heat off. Hope this helps understanding how it works

If its warm weather I have the floor set to 65 degrees. If the weather at night is above freezing we have ours set around 90 degrees for night use. if its below freezing and the wind is blowing 100 degrees. When we had to stay in Flagstaff one night when the Hydro- hot quit and the temp was to low for the roof units I cranked it all the way up. 105 or some such and when we awoke the coach was down to 58 in the front and 68 in the bedroom. Our Gold Heat system has 3 settings: Day (with a sun), night (with a moon) and storage (with a suitcase). All 3 settings can be adjusted and stored in memory. We love our floor heat!
