Jeep WRANGLER with M&G Auxiliary Brake

Yahoo Message Number: 78224
Jeep WRANGLER with M&G Auxiliary Brake I'm asking a very specific question. Has anyone installed or had installed the M&G auxiliary braking system on a recent model (e.g. 2011) Jeep WRANGLER. This requires specific vehicle modifications and I'm looking for feedback on this particular application.

Thanks, Steve B

Steve, I have an '07 Wrangler and am using the M&G system. I had it installed at FMCA in Pomona in '08 by a tech from M&G. They had to move my master cylinder a couple inches to accommodate the activator that they attach to the cylinder. Once they were done, you couldn't tell they had moved anything. It's the only braking system I've ever used so I can't compare, but it seems to work as advertised. I also had the breakaway installed but, knock on wood, I haven't had to use it.

Because of the tight fit of the M&G we changed to the Air Force One system on the Jeep. Works the same but is smaller for the tight fit. And easier to change when you get a new vehicle. So, we now have one of each. But at this time the AF1 is sitting on the shelf waiting for a new vehicle :)

I did the install myself with a friends help. Sure it was a bit of a problem upon looking at it, but with a phone call to M&G they explained what I had to do regarding moving and reinstalling the ABS system. Then it was easy. Installed on a 2010 Wrangler and we like it better than the Roadmaster system I had used for about 10 years.

Thanks for the feedback from several folks. I've already talked to both M&G and an M&G installer about the application of this auxiliary braking system in a 2011 Jeep Wrangler but what I'm looking for is feedback from folks who have actually used this system on a JEEP WRANGLER. The reason for being specific about the Wrangler is that installation requires cutting out some non-structural support material under the hood in order to fit the M&G unit between the power brake unit and the master cylinder. I assume that the system works successfully as advertised but are there any concerns on the WRANGLER about voiding any warranties because of these physical modifications to the braking system and the re-routing of brake lines?? I'm looking for JEEP WRANGLER specific comments.

Thanks again, Steve B
