Kwikee 42 Series Slide Replacement

Yahoo Message Number: 79402
I just completed the replacement of both sets of slides on my step. Purchased both sets from Kevin Waite. The upper slides came with all of the required hardware for installation. Upper slides required removing the stainless steel rivets and drilling new holes. The bottom slides were installed with screws holding the slide to the main frame and stainless steel rivets holing the bottom stair to the slide. I reinstalled the bottom step with the rivets, requires small heads for top stair clearance.
This repair didn't go as smooth as the description above and the instructions. The step assembly is very heavy and requires removal from the coach. I replaced the slides by myself and came up with some ways for simplifying the task. If anyone is interested I could generate a procedure for doing this task.
BTW Kevin was very helpful in both advice and getting me all of the hardware (except the SS rivets).

Good morning. I'm searching old messages dealing with Kwikee 42 series steps and came across your post from May of 2012. Returning from a RV outing and turned off engine to remove clothing, etc. Anyway started coach to move into RV cover and steps did not retract... and yes I now need to replace both sets of roller bearing slides.

You mention in your posting that you have "come up with some ways of simplifying the task". I would really appreciate any (and all) information you may have in this matter. I have contacted Kevin Waite and spoke with him this morning and he will be ordering parts for me as soon as he gets pricing information.

Thank you in advance for helping me on this matter.
I'm hoping this email goes directly to your private email. And my email is eav2001@...

I replaced both slides several years ago, not sure if I posted it or not, will look. My email address is skpjose@.... Was not too difficult, just make sure you get the correct slides and buy a pneumatic rivet gun to shoot the SS rivets.
