Add Batteries

Yahoo Message Number: 80583
I would like to extend the 'boondockability' of our coach with additional house batteries. Our battery bay appears to have enough room forward of the existing 4 batteries to accommodate 2 more without adding a second level tray.

Has anyone done this and were there any issues?

Thanks,

Jim

This has been done by many in the group and there are photos in the photos folder. Suggest doing a search. Keep in mind that the oversize compartment is as much for ventilation purposes as anything else. All batteries vent corrosive & explosive gases. Be safe!

Jim,

I had a need to add two additional batteries so I could use a breathing machine at night. It is a not brainier. The two additional batteries can be add4ed to the shelf to the left of the current batteries as you look at them from the door. I would suggest that you really strap them down, we did not do a good job and the flip forward and made a dead short and caught fire. We now have done it correctly, strapping down the batteries so they do not move.
Something to be aware of : When you add two additional batteries such as AGM, they are only as good as the other four. We have had six AGM Lifeline for three years and they have function absolutely without flaw.
