door entry remote

We have an '04 Inspire and am trying to get a duplicate remote transmitter. Been to a few audio stores and they can't find any ID or FCC code. According to CC they bought the door with the remote set up and for a mere $198 I can get the kit. Is the remote receiver in the door as I can find nothing up front or under the dash that looks like a receiver. The only ID we can make out on the one hand held transmitter are the numbers 1240 which the stores tell me means nothing to them.
Does anyone have any ideas on how to get a addional remote without dishing out close to $200?
