magna wiring question

On my 05 Magna, in the controls compartment underneath the drivers location, there are 5 bitter end wires on the right hand side.
They are marked SPR 1 - 2 -4 -5 and 6.
I assume they are spare wires. They can not be found on any wire drawing in the manual.
Does any one have any knowledge where the other end of those wires are located.

I am going to need 2 wires from that location back to the engine compartment, in order to controle, manually from the drivers seat, in addition to the existing coolant temp. sensor, the hign speed hydrolic fan, cooling the radiator.
Pulling new wires is not that simple.
Looking forward to any knowledge.

Check the wiring bundle into the fuel bay fuse box, just above the battery cutoff switches. I found several spares there which run behind the air bag leveling controller in the dash passenger side.

On my 09 Magna, there is a terminal strip . on the rear facing firewall, for lack of a better description. On the terminal strip there are only wires on one side of the terminal strip. These are the 3 wires from the front compartment, under the driver's seat. One of the wires is a bigger size than the others. If you jump 2 of the wires at the front , then you can check the terminals at the rear for continuity , to confirm that these are the wires. i am not at the coach, so doing this from memory , but I do have 3 wires running from the front compartment to the rear.

Yes Ron, your description illustrates, more or less identical than what I have. Indeed the terminal strip is there against the firewall.
I wired all of them, around with the ones " bitter ends", in the controls bay under the drivers seat. Like red on red, yellow on yellow etc.
None of them gave me a writing on my ohms settings other than O.L.
I would be happy with any low nr. but did not get it.
I think, but I might be wrong, the ones on the terminal strip are there when some extra signals for towing are needed.
I am more or less out of ideas other than, either find the other ends of those SPR wires or

try to install a wireless system

or try to pull 2 new wires from bay to bay.

Thanks Dave, the HWH leveling controller in the magna I have, is located, in the controls bay underneath the drivers seat.
And that is where the bitter ends from those spare wires are located as well. I looked all over the place to find the" other" ends and hope they are marked as "SPR" as well.

I am confused by your description of what you are trying to control from the driver's seat. If we know what it is then you may not have to run two wires back to the engine compartment. The fan controller is and example.

Don,I will try to explain as good as I can.
The Cat engines were discussed at the FMCA in Indy.
50% of the alotted time was spend on overheating issues, radiator cleaning etc.
I introduced the idea to install a switch on the dash, to run the cooling fan in high speed, prior to the temp sensor doing it.
The sensor will still work but the switch can " override" it.
The mentor liked the idea, and encouraged me to do so.
So instead of depending on an automatic fan in high speed, we are going to have a manual control along side with it.
The manual action lets say starts at the bottom of the climb, versus the automatic one half way up.

I discussed it with my truckservice place and they did not see a problem doing it.
That is about what we plan to do.

The wires at the compartment under the drivers seat are loose, so when you try to get continuity, you won't, unless you take 2 of them and attach them together. As I said I am not at the coach, so I can't tell you where they are. As I recall , there is a number , on a white strip , wrapped around the wire at the rear . CC told me they are part of a wire bundle at the front compartment with this same wire strip number. I thought I read that your original post said you found the wires at the front , but did not know where they terminated at the rear. If that terminal strip is there as I described, and it only has those 3 wires, you will have 3 free wires at the front and so , you will have to look for them. I won't be at my coach for another 3 weeks. If you email, offline, I will email you the info when I get to the coach.

That is what I thought you might be trying to do. I installed the same switch 3 years ago and believe me it IS a good idea.
I did not have to run any wires to the engine compartment as there is a fuse in the chassis fuse box for the fan controller dc power. Pulling the fuse will default the fan controller to high speed.
I mounted a single pole single throw switch on the far right side of the dash in a convenient spot. I the ran two wire from behind the dash out to the chassis fuse box. Then I removed the load side wire (one going back to the controller) and tied it to one of the wires going up to the switch. I then tied the other wire from the dash to the terminal where I just removed the load side wire. This puts the switch is series with the fuse so that either throwing the switch or removing the fuse will kill the DC supply to the controller forcing the fan to high speed. Seems a lot less effort than running wires all the way to the engine compartment.
My coach is a 2004 Allure so the location of things may vary but hopefully the fuse is still only for the fan controller and in the chassis fuse box wherever that is on your coach. On mine it is in the bay underneath the driver's toll window. Trust me this switch will someday save you butt if the coach starts to over heat. Killing the dc supply will cool it down as long as the problem is with the controller or it's sensors.
I do not use the switch unless I see the heat go over 220 on the Silverleaf. Often it is the overheat light that clues me in Some days everything runs just fine. Other days I just give up and leave the fan on high all the time.

Thank you Ron, I did the same but ran a 50' wire outside the coach in order to try to make a closed loop.
The good news is the issue is resolved, indeed as suggested by the brain trust, I will wire into the fuse.

Thanks for the details Don, that is exactly what I needed.
I am a novice in DC, and a NONO in AC. ( although after a Crown I change a light bulb).
I went through some of those temp.sensors and those are not really industrial use. I knew how to pull that plug and continue to drive with the fan in high speed.(turning of the AC on a climb helps also).
I am not used to those temps.I had a Cummins and the operating temps in the climbs were lower. Now with this C 13 Cat. they are higher.
When I see 210-215 on the Silverleaf, the blood pressure goes up accordingly. With this change towards a manual control, at the bottom of the climb, I will turn the high speed fan ON, and on the top I will turn it OFF. If the sensor is working properly it will take control of that function again at that point.
I like the idea and hope once installed,I do not need to keep an eye on the blood pressure, but say " Honey what's fordinner tonight".

Opened the ingnition fuse box cover and indeed the 20 amp fan controller fuse is there. It is a metal one, not plastic like most of the fuses.
I started the engine, pulled the fuse, but the fan did not go in high speed. For now I assume, that is because the engine was not up to operating temp.
I looked with a mirror on the back side of the fuse box and there are a zillion wires running. Any way I located one yellow wire marked IG01 coming from the back side of that fuse location.
Are there not supposed to 2 wires from the fuse box ? Since you said " remove the load side wire". I became nervous to cut the wrong wire. Because I have no idea what that means " load side wire". I am not electrical at all.
The drawing shows IG01 to run from the fuse to the AC Clutch Relay (FRB). I located that relay in the same bay , took it of and indeed there is a yellow IG01 going into that relay.

Is that the load side wire ? That location would be perfect and easy access for me to do the cutting and connect the wires from the dash switch.
