tag axle intermittent operation

Has anyone experienced intermittent operation of the tag axle? My switch works about half the time with no apparent pattern to the problem.

The tag axle will only raise if you are in first gear and doing less than 14 mph. In that sense it is always intermittent. I guess that we need a little more definition of what you mean by intermittent.

In addition it is not supposed to raise if the parking brake is set. Please not the word NOT....

Well, Don. In# 82532 you advised me about some rewiring to control the hydraulic fan. I was very much excited about this approach, however ran into the " unknown speed bump".
That is what I wrote in 82645.

May be you have the answer for that hurdle as well.
I still like to do it instead of a shop at 100.- an hour.

If you are referring to your post about the 20 a fuse etc. I sent a reply on the 26th to the email address associated with hps4314. I wanted to keep our discussion off line so as to not bore the rest with a lot of detail. I guess that was the wrong email address to send to reply to.
I deal with the Group almost entirely with Outlook Express and almost never log on and go to the group. That is why the 82645 was meaningless to me. If you give me an email address that you want me to re-send it to I will do so.

Thanks for the responses. This problem is a sudden onset after years of working normally. After a few more incidents I notice that the coach doesn't raise when I first start to move -- even with the air pressure @ 125. If i manually raise the coach using the HWH button when first beginning to roll the tag will operate. It suggests that the HWH ride leveling system may be the problem. After raising the coach everything functions normally since the ride height valves take over. Anyone had a similar experience? Thanks for any suggestions.

Sounds like the parking brake switch may be getting sticky. It will not go into ride mode until the park brake is released.

When you say "the praking brake switch may be getting sticky" is that something that can just be lubed from the drivers seat or would it be necessary to take the panel apart and then lube it?

It is normally attached to the bottom of the parking brake control. You need to access it from underneath. Most of the time folks just replace them.
