When to replace shock absorbers and what to use?

Yahoo Message Number: 6201
I just bought a very nice used 1998 36' Allure. It has 42K miles on it. With most coaches, the shocks would be getting long in the tooth at this point. How about this one?
If any of you have put new shocks on, what did you use and where did you get them? Thanks.

The shocks on CC are bus shocks and according to industry information should last 100,000 miles or more. If your coach has Gabriel shocks (generally blue) you may need new ones. I think CC is still using Koni adjustable shocks.

I noticed a lot of "bottoming" on hard bumps at about 25,000 miles. I had my front shocks replaced with bilstien(sp) after talking to a rep that seemed to know something (?). No bottoming now. The ride seems the same as when new. I now have 41,000 miles. They were changed at a truck/tire shop that I use for alignments, etc. An alignment would be a good suggestion when changing the shocks. Alignment, rotation, proper inflation and good shocks will prolong tire wear and lessen the chance of premature tire failure.

Glen, yes the shocks are blue. And it has that sloppy feel, bouncing a few times after a hard bump, that indicates a change is needed. What model of Bilstein does the CC Allure 36' use?

Thanks.

Switch to Koni shocks. CC can tell you the model and will sell them to you if you so desire.
