Upgrade flooring

I know that some people have upgraded their flooring, my question is do you also do all of your slides? I have 4 slides and right now I have carpet and tile on my floors. Did you pull up your tile or work around it. What about the carpet that is on the side walls as you are coming into your coach. How did you handle that?

Ilene,

Lots of options, I'll go over the standard's we do...
Slide rooms typically have carpet for a reason - - to cover the ugly's. If the slide is a flat out floor it will usually have a flap to cover the seam and other ugly's. Normally carpet is re-installed onto the slide room and hard surface between - the main floor. With the existing tile you can leave it and build the floor around it up to have a flat transition, you can skip the underlayment but then you'll end up with a difference in heights between the two floors (toe nail ripper). Leaving the tile does create other issues, getting a nice transition even using the underlayment is tuff, usually due to the curve. I recommend removing the tile.
For the entry, it's all about you! Some people like it simple & some extravagant. The basic treatment we do here is black marine grade wrinkled vinyl installed on the entry side walls & black coin pattern step treads. Add some LED lights into the edge of the step tread and you've got a nice simple, washable entry. For not so basic, mosaic tile for the side walls and granite tile for the step treads. Either way, my opinion is the entry should be able to be washed out while washing the coach - open the door wash, rinse & close the door - simple & clean!

Thank you, I love the color of the flooring you put down. I am guessing that you also keep the carpet on the slides in the bedroom. So you still have carpet but at least you can change the color of the carpet and then put wood in the rest of it.

We finished the ceramic tile in the main room and replaced all the carpet in the bedroom and on the slides with resilient sheet flooring. Add all the appropriate trim and transition pieces and we have a coach we can sweep out and mop.
