Window washer

The plastic fitting on the body of the coach that the washer line connects to is broken. Where can I get a replacement? Also, I want to replace both the hoses, but they seem to fit in the arms very tight, so I can't get them out and certainly will not be able to run them through there again. What am I missing?

Al,

It is good to know that John Davis at JDRV has the parts you need. I had the same problem with my old deteriorated tubing. I am assuming your 2000 Intrigue is similar to my '98 Allure. I took a sample of my old tubing into NAPA and they measured and matched the small diameter. This tubing is much smaller that the standard auto w/s washer tubing carried by most auto parts stores. I removed the old tube by lubing the channel first with wet silicone spray. Then, I pushed with some thick wire from the top while pulling the tubing from the bottom. Then, I squirted some silicone lube into the hoe in the new tubing and inserted about 12" of thin wire into the hole. I left about 15" "leader" of bare wire before cutting it. I lubed the tubing and the channel again, inserted the leader into the wiper arm channel then, slowly pulled and pushed the new tubing into the channel. The thin wire insert gives the tubing just enough rigidity to help when forcing the new tube through the wiper arm channel. Now, remove the leader and proceed with installation to your new fittings.

I forgot to mention that you should leave plenty of slack as the tubing has a tendency to shrink over time. The tubing deteriorates first at the fittings where it is stretched over the barbs. If you have enough slack, sometimes you can repair by cutting a small amount off of the end and re-connecting Daron

Just wondering. Does anyone know of a method or a tool to replace the rubber gasket that surrounds the screws on the inside of windows. I had to remove a window to fix a leak. This gasket is giving me fits.

Yes! the vinyl insert can be hard on the fingers. There is a tool that is available from C.R. Laurence or your local glass shop. But, it is not really necessary.
Here is a slick glazier's trick. Put the vinyl insert into hot soapy water. When the water cools enough to handle the insert comfortably, it will be pliable enough for easy installation and the soap will do the lubrication. Start at the top center of the window so the the joint will not be visible. Squeeze the vinyl between your thumb and fingers of your right hand as you push it into the channel with your left hand an inch or two at a time. Of course reverse if you are a lefty. Do not use other lubricants as they are messy and do not evaporate, so they continue to lubricate when no longer needed. the soap just dries up and disappears.

Caution: Do not stretch the insert as you are installing it as it will shrink over time and leave a gap at the joint. I usually leave about 1/4" or 3/8" oversize at the end. Then insert at the joint first then, stuff it or "pooch it in" (technical glass industry jargon). This will compensate for the inevitable contraction. Wipe off the residual soap. You are done. Trust me. By the time you finish you will be very proficient at the task. The second time you do this it will be a breeze.

I use a plastic windshield tool (which can be purchased at many auto paint stores) to insert the screw cover gasket or something with a dull point. Run it along the edge as you work the material. Sometimes it helps to warm up the screw cover insert so it folds into place. Hope this helps.
