Battery Boost - Oil Pressure Switch - C-9

Yahoo Message Number: 86821
Greetings campers!

Charging of my house batteries with the alternator has become intermittent, unless I activate the chassis boost switch or use a workaround at the battery boost solenoid.
Can anyone tell me if the OIL PRESSURE SWITCH (that activates the battery boost solenoid when the engine is running) is the same sensor that transmits engine oil pressure to the ECM?
I believe it is a stand alone switch but want to be sure before I start ripping into things.
If it is stand alone, is it the lowermost switch on the passenger side of the engine?

Thanks!
Jay

I changed ours last year and now things are fine charging house batteries. What I would do, if you suspect the oil press switch, is to have wire off the switch, and ground the wire which should close the boost, for the alt charges the house batts. That makes sure the pressure switch is the problem. There are 2 switches on the C-9. If I remember correctly, the switch with the single wire is the one for the BB. Check the wiring diagram. There is a panel inside the last compartment above the the muffler which makes it easy to work on the C-9 function side.

Thanks Dave and Ned!

I believe the bottom sensor is the correct one - it only has one lead, but not the "blue 24A" which comes from the BB solenoid (it magically changed colors along the way, it seems). Ned, your advice to remove and ground the wire is sound - thanks.
What layout is your coach (mine's daVinci)? I do not have an access panel in the right rear bay to access the engine, but I sure wish I did!! That might be worth breaking out the Sawzall!!

We have the Genoa floor plan, there is the differernce. The panel is probably 18 x 36 and really helps getting into the passenger side of the engine. Jay, I do not remember the wire #, but the wiring diagram shows it. I'm out of town or I would go check it out at our storage area. I will be home in a week and I can refresh my grey matter. Let me know.

I replaced my oil pressure switch. It is a job for a contortionist. The best way I could access it was thru the floor in the bedroom. Had to buy some special wrenches. They type of open end that goes on a socket wrench that gave me the length and offset I needed to get it out. I have a 40" divinche floor plan with no passenger side access to the engine cutting an access panel would make it easy but not sure you can.
