Fresh oil off/on switch

Someone please tell me how I am suppose to use the "fresh oil on/off switch in my service bay in the back compartment of my 1998 affinity 40 ft coach, I have the 455 hp cat c-12. Do I fill the oil in the reservoir than turn the switch on to pump oil to the pan? what exactly is the purpose of this switch? thanks for any help. John

Good question John, I am not the one that will be giving an answer but also have that one on my list. How long with switch on will transfere what amount of fluid.

Hi John,

The oil reservoir is where you always have that spare oil. Mine hold 2 gallons.

Check your oil level, and when it is a gallon or so low, flip the switch and oil pumps into the pan.

I have the CAT C12 and it holds 9 gallons of oil. It takes my pump about 60 second to pump a gallon of oil.
My Cat doesn't use oil, so I haven't had to add any to the pan between changes.

I change the oil in the reservoir when I change the engine oil. I just drain the oil pan and then turn on the pump and watch the clean fresh oil get pumped out of the reservoir into the pan and out the Fumoto drain valve into the waste oil container.

You need to have oil in the reservoir. If yours is like mine, you flip a valve downstream from the pump and then turn the switch on, which turns the pump on. You should have a sight glass on the reservoir that shows the amount of oil you have pumped. This way you can fill the oil pan without dragging out an oil container. The reservoir holds two gallons. I hardly ever use it-it takes at least 5,000 miles to burn a quart.
