Salt Lake City Coach Repair

Yahoo Message Number: 88563
Picked up our coach from 6 weeks of storage in Salt Lake City. Immediately noticed the check light on the fridge - what a mess. Leaving the storage facility I noticed the ride was terrible and upon checking the travel light was not on HWH panel. I called Coach-Net and after a couple of tries and a couple of hours a Service Truck arrived.
Diagnosis broken Ride Height Valve now the task of finding one and getting it shipped here. I am concerned about getting the ride height set properly. Luckily we are only a 100 yards from the storage facility front door they seemed understanding and we are spending the night dry camping here.
Still don't know what the issue is/was with the fridge have it on AC with the genset running seems like the freezer is getting colder, I was getting check light on gas but that also seems to be working now.
Anybody have recommendations for Country Coach Service in Salt Lake City area ?

I'm sure you can get one from Country Coach. We are there now, and I'm getting to the point I hate to have anyone else do work on the coach except for strictly engine/transmission issues. It is well worth the trip ove here, and you are not that far away if the coach will make the trip. Nothing but friendly faces, and highly qualified technicians that solve problems that stump others!

Bob,

Don't know if this is the front or a rear but Ride Height valves are common in the trucking industry and any good truck place or mobile mechanic can change out a RH valve. As long as your frame is not sitting on the tires you probably can drive your coach. Just don't go too far or fast and the ride could be rough. They may need to get the part number off the old valve but I think NAPA carries them.
In the Files section there are files on RH specs but may not cover a 97. One of the techs on this site may have the specs.

As I remember from reading you have two choises. One call CC or OMC and they will tell you to level the coach manually and then which fuse to pull to freeze the adjustment till you get to your desired location. Or you can call HWH for their preferred way to accomplish the same thing. I had to do it once to get from Albany to Eugene to have Carrier and sons perform the repair as CC sop was full. You may have to stop a few times during your travels to confirm all is still well. TWI 2004 intrigue 11731

State Trailer Supply is one of many places in SLC that should be able to provide and install the valve.
I would call CoachNet for a few recommendations, then call for price and availability.
You do not want to drive to far if it is the rear. It will destroy your U joints.

Bob,

You might call SB Mechanical (Mobile) RV Repair (801.910.8491) to see if he (Stew Barrows) can handle the repairs you need. I've used him and was very satisfied with an on-site repair (circulation pump replacement) he did for me. I believe some of this group's members have also used Smith Power Products (801.415.5000) for RV chassis repairs.
Any reasonable truck repair facility should be able to change out the ride height valve - a very common repair. I once had a Freightliner dealer in Sioux Falls, SD replace one of mine.
You SHOULD be able to manually level your coach, then pull a fuse in the HWH controller to disable the ride leveling feature. HWH can tell you which fuse to pull in your controller. I drove several hundred miles in this condition before I could get mine repaired.
You can find candidate repair shops on a couple web sites (e.g., truckdown.com, rvservicereviews.com).

Thanks to everyone for the tips. The Coach Net Road Service was able to find a part in Salt Lake and had us on the road the next day. Now to get the fridge smell resolved. We have cleaned it out with Lysol and Fabreeze, it is now full of newspapre and charcol hope to be able to start using it again tomorrow.
