RO Water

Has anyone ever installed an RO water system in their coach?

Yes we had it installed at the factory during the build in 1996. We have it installed in a bay next to our tool chest compartment. It is fed to our refrigerator water system as well as we have an RO faucet at the kitchen sink.

It's a Culligan Aqua Cleer system is a 2 1/2 gal capacity and the tank is about 12 inches so it could be installed under you sink. We have it serviced every year and have all the seals checked every 5 years.

We have been very happy with the system plus service is available everywhere.

RO systems would seem to make sense if parked and using both municipal water and sewer. As they use and therefore waste several times the amount of resultant product water in the process of purification many parks would probably not welcome their use.
Again, due to their consumption in the purification process, if using on board water and passing to the gray tank, the RO system will consume fresh water and then add to the gray tank...
Generally a carbon or even two stage carbon filter will be pretty effective for most purposes.

Not in California.

But I simply recycled it back to the fresh water tank,. after all it started out as fresh water putting it back where it came from couldn't be all that bad. I also filtered it before it got to the fresh water tank.
The only problem was if I was hooked up to city water for weeks it could overflow the fresh tank. simply required keeping an ey on it and turning on the pump and turning off the city water.
