Glad I found this forum. I have done quite a bit of reading and I am still lost? Just bought this today, extremely well kept, unfortunately the previous owner died 2 months ago. This was his baby, he owned it since it was new.
Having a couple of problems, first lets see if I can get any help with the most important. Bear with me, I have never owned a motor home.
The Water Heater and Refrigerator will not come on.
1. Water Heater - Turned on the gas valve at the tank, turned on the water heater at the rocker switch on the control panel in the kitchen below the microwave, Pilot OUT light comes on, then goes off and comes back on again and stays on?
2. Refrigerator - Turn power switch on, AES Light comes on, Gas Light comes on for a minutes or two and then goes off and the CHECK light comes on.

Seems like no LP Gas?

Good luck wit your new rig!

Did you check to see if the LP Detector switch is on?
Usually down low on a base board. It will make a beeping sound when you first turn it on. Must be on for LP to flow.

I agree with Smitty. Also, if the propane has been off a while, you need to go through the on cycle 3-4 times. I usually check the propane by turning on the range to get air our and both burners going, then try the frig and water heater.

Thanks Smitty, Yes it was on, although not originally, I had turned it on prior to this post.
Now? I was just woke up in the monster by a beeping coming from the smoke detector at random intervals or is it a CO detector. Tried to turn off the generator at the On/Off switch and it won't turn off.
Christ, this is not going well.

OK, this morning I found the DC Voltage was low when I checked at the Control Panel in the Coach. I had the AC Unit running with Generator Running all night. Started the Coach this morning, will this also help charge the batteries. THe Inverter is turned on?

They are opportunities for learning these coaches of ours:)!
What part of the country are you in? If you are near a reputable dealer that has a good history with CC's, it might be money well spent to go in for a full Pre Delivery Walk Thru. Bring your notebook and my wife also used her phone to take small movie snippets too. Ours lasted about 90 minutes with our coach, bought used, by Holland Motorhomes in the San Diego area. If you are not near a dealer that can spend sometime with you for money, perhaps a CC board member is near you and would be willing to meet for a few hours of conversation. These coaches change some from year to year, so some systems could be a bit different then what they have, but it will be close.
Most CC's were delivered with a full BOX of documentation. When we got home, we also spent several days going A - B, just looking at all of the assorted manuals and pamphlets in this box.
It is frustrating at times, but CC's are good solid coaches, and worth the effort to get to know, and sort out any lingering problems that the previous owner had not been able to take care of due to other life concerns.
This board has a deep knowledge base, so hope others will jump in and be able to help.

My personal feeling is that if a seller of the coach you want to pay $$$$ for is not ready and/or able to give a complete walk through and demonstation, especially a dealer, I would not go through with the sale. So many factors that are "good to go" for an owner will not be ok for the buyer...especially when it comes to big time expense so soon after purchase.

Don't know your coach electrical system, but if your generator is running, you should not need to have your inverter inverting. Is your Inverter also a charger?

Currently I am in Houston, TX and Monday headed to Austin, Tx. Will be living in it while getting 3 construction projects started. I will be moving the coach from one project to another and then back over the next 2 years. Probably 3-4 months at each project.
My plans are to stop by in of the Dealers in Katy, Tx on the way out of town. IT appears Camping World sold this one originally, well at least it has their emblems on it in 3 places, so I am thinking they sold it.
Today has been a real learning experience though, I am starting to figure out most systems so far, the internet is my friend always.

I may be confusing this thread with others, but I believe Jon stated the owner has passed away a few months before he bought the coach. So no 'hand off' overview was available for him.
I concur with your comments, that having the person that knows the rig the best, hand off the knowledge on the specific unit.
In our case, not like Jon's, the 1st owner sold the coach on consignment thru our local Holland Motorhomes. He authorized full access to all of service history (Unit sold by Holland to him, and 99% of all service was done by them.), and part of the purchase agreement was a full walk thru of the coaches systems. Our tech, Billy, did a great job of explaining many, many things. My wife took great notes, and I would say probably 80% stuck with us... The rest we kind of 'burned as we learned':)! Sometimes that is the bet way.

I believe as you do, Smitty, that the previous owner of Jon's CC had died. Smitty, I have to say that your suggestions are superb. And reading that your wife took little video snippets on your very thorough walk-through is a great idea and one we'll copy! Don't know why we hadn't thought of that since we both have iPhones which do that! Thank you! I also really liked the phrase, "burned as we learned!" That's exactly how we've learned a few things too and continue to do so. It's a great life owning one of the CC coaches. Best to you and to you too, Jon.

Thanks everyone for your replies.

Things are going much better now. I DID go get Motor Home Orientation today at Camping World in Katy, TX. I didn't learn a lot of new info but they did help me to fill in the blanks a bit more than yesterday.
The best thing to happen out of the Orientation was we discovered a bad battery !!!!! During my visit with Camping World today I bought a new battery, a new 15,000 BTU Duo-Therm Brisk Air II AC Unit, Dish Network Satellite Receiver. We nt back to my condo in Houston, TX loaded up my 2007 Toyota FJ Cruiser TRD 4-Wheel Drive on the U-haul Car Dollyn and away we went to Austin, TX.
Arrived safely, This Coach drives like it's new! I am amazed, I feel so much better now. Got it set up on the job site and started investigating all of the items which were not working previously. Wouldn't you know it, EVERYTHING WORKS NOW!It was that one bad battery. So far, everything I have checked is working. We will how it is by morning.

OK guys, I made a trip to Lake Livingston for a family reunion, upon my arrival, the left rear Airbag blew! After inspecting and realizing what it was that blew, I also find Gabriel SLX 89414 Adjustable Gas Shocks which appear to be the original shocks.
I must get back to Austin, TX by Monday morning and will not be able to change the Airbag. The Coach is bottoming out really bad in the rear and I dont think this will make for a very safe ride back home and I am afraid it will cause more damage even if I take it slow, I am think about changing the rear shocks.

Does anyone have any advice on this situation?

You are stuck driving in this situation will do damage to the drive line due to misalignment. I had to replace both rear airbags several years ago due to cracking. The coach needs to be at the proper ride height for safe operation.

Get hold of a mobile repair service. It is not a big deal to change the airbag. We lost a tire in 2005, and it took the airbag out with it. The mobile tech was able to change out the airbag in no time--he even had one on the truck. I would not consider it safe to drive with no airbag on the back--you may even damage the driveshaft.

Thanks for the advice. Forgot I had Good Sam Roadside Assistance.
Guy came out looked at it, drove 25 miles to get the part from their shop, drove back and changed it, Part was $200, Labor $170, $100 to go get the part. Total was $506, pretty good deal for roadside on a Sunday.
By the way, 1999 Country Coach Allure 36', Rear Airbag Assembly; Firestone Airite Airspring #9219 and includes the Bellow #1T15M-6.
