Bedroom Engine Access, Allure

Not that I'm planning to need to get to the top of the engine anytime soon but I do wonder what is involved. I can see what appears to be two panels near the bed and wardrobe that are removed to access that area. I am curious if these can be removed without removing the wardrobe doors and the door track attached to the floor. One panel appears to extend under the wardrobe door track.

On our 3 slide 40 footer we had to remove the doors & track, no big chore.

On our 2004 Allure Cummins Coach Care removed the wardrobe doors and track. No biggie.

Access in mine is under the bed? you might also have access from the raised area at the foot of your bed, maybe a combination of the 2 locations.

Engine access is pretty much unique to the model of coach and the year it was made. Allures and Intrigues with rear beads of the 90's are different from units with bed room slides in the 2000's, are different from 42' models to 34 ft models. I learned the secret to figuring out my Intrigue was to examine the engine compartment from underneath with a bright light in the engine compartment. I had a tape measure in case I had to transfer the measurements. What I didn't realize was the top layer with carpet was velcroed to the bottom layer that was attached with bolts. I couldn't find the bolt heads from above but found the seems in the carpet finally. When I lost the rear coolant circulation pump for the dash heat I was in luck the road tech they sent was so small he could crawl in on top of the engine to by pass the pump. If I had a C-12 it would have been impossible, but the ISL takes up so little space he was in and out in 15 minutes. TWI 2004 intrigue 11731

On our 2006 you have to remove the wardrobe mirror doors and probably the track. CC broke one of our mirrors in the removal. They had to cut the carpet to get access because it had not been cut in production. You have to get to the top to do the valve lash adjustment. Have you had that done?

Dan, I inspected the area this evening. I can now see that the wardrobe doors and track must be removed. The carpet section over the panel has been cut (I can clearly see the seam) but it is stapled down. Whenever I (or anyone else) needs to access that area, will pull the carpet and plan to re-attach it with velcro.
Regarding valve lash adjustment, I know that is required on the CAT diesel I had in my previous coach but was not aware that the Cummins ISL also needed periodic valve adjustment. The coach only has 36K miles on it. At what interval does Cummins recommend valve adjustment?

I believe interval is between 30000-50000 miles. Just had mine done at 35000

We also reattached with velcro. Cummins Coach Care told us that the valves don't need adjusting until 150,000 miles on our Cummins ISL.
They replaced the bolts and rubber grommets that hold the valve cover as someone over torqued the originals. Said everything looked fine and we have 106,000 miles on our coach.

Lonny, I checked the Cummins documentation for the ISL 425 and it says valve adjustment at 150,000 miles or 48 months. Based on the 48 months, I would need to have it done unless the previous owner had it done. He has been very helpful so will call him.
You said Cummins told you 150K miles but am I understanding you had the valve lash done even though you only have 106K miles?

I do have a CAT and they recommend valve adjustment at 35,000 miles.

Just had ours done on our Cat C9 at 40k. (05 Allure 3 slides)

Access to the hatch is as follows: (slide is out)

1. Mirror door must be removed.
2. Door track must be removed.
3. Mattress must be removed in order to lift the bed frame.
4. Use 2x4 to support bed in the lift position.
5. Rug is stapled to a piece of 3/8 plywood which can be removed using a putty knife and playing with it.
6. Nuts holding the hatch are now visible and can be removed and now engine valve cover is accessible.

My adjustment was almost not needed, a couple were out a few thousandths.
It should be noted that I took the mirrors and the mattress completely out of the coach and drove to service empty. Showed service people how to use slive etc.
