satillite splitter question

Yahoo Message Number: 90075
I am going to set up a portable satillite dish. In order not to run a cable through a window I want to use the outside cable connector for entry into the RV. In order to still have the option of cable TV or satillite TV, a spitter will have to be installed. The questions I have are, will this work, will I get interference, will there be a signal loss. Fritz,

If you are using DirecTV, you can't use a splitter since it would block the DC voltages from the receiver up to the dish. You are probably going to have to connect and disconnect the cable to the receiver.
Don't know about DishNetwork.

Fritz I did it with two A-B buttons and I can go from the roof dish or a portable dish or cable TV from the outside cable port and it works fine.

Hay Fritz,

Have been using a A-B-Splitter for years and have not had a problem with it. Good luck on your install.

For DTV, don't know about Dish, you need a signal from the receiver to the dish and I don't know how you pull that off with an outside antennae.

Two AB switches work with Direct TV SD receivers/DVR just fine.

You can get them at most any electronic supply store, Radio Shack is one.
