Charging

Yahoo Message Number: 91123
I'm boon-docking and can't recharge the house batteries. The genset is working fine and running the air conditioning like normal but the EMS panel isn't indicating there is AC coming into the coach so no charging. When the inverter is switched on it works normally but still no charging. The Echo charger fuses are okay as is the inverter reset breaker.

Does the charger within the inverter fail?

Do you have a line on your screen (usually) below the Inverter On/Off, that says Charger or Charge?

Is it set to ON???

You might try unplugging the 'telephone type' wires on the inverter than plugging them back in - sometimes that works - also set the charge rate to about 15 if running both air conditioners - - be sure to press the charge on the Xantrex panel - it should blink if charging - should show generator on the AC in - also check for the 'slow blow' fuse - that happened to me once - but don't ask me how to install it -

I also need to replace my house batteries - and will ask that in a separate post -

Jim

I just replaced my transfer switch bought exact replacement on Amazon for $193. I saw them as much as $327.
There are two contact switches in the box. My understanding is that one is for the genset and one for shore power. My shore power side was bad but I was still able to charge my batteries with solar and the genset. It would be interesting to know if you can charge on shore power. My electrician said why did you not just replace the individual contact?

I'm on shore power now and I still can't charge the house batteries through the inverter. I don't think it's related to the transfer switch because that switch will properly transfer from the genset to shore power for running the air conditioning. The inverter seems to function normally too; it's only the charging function that isn't working and I think that's controlled by the inverter.
