are there any known concerns with 07 -08 magnas

Yahoo Message Number: 91341
Hello

I have an inspire and am thinking of upgrading to the magna mostly for handling. With my inspire I have known the issues as in paint checking, fillon roof splitting, dry pto pumps , blistering paint, Faulty radiators and CACs , fogy windows and possible fridge fire.
Are there some magna owners who could speak about there list. Im sure there are some items. It would be nice to know these things to confirm if they had been repaired.
Thanks for the help.

I was surprised with no replies. Am I to assume there were no issues with the magnas? Thanks

I don't have one, but have friends that do. They have window separation issues, 03 and 04 have some

serious slide room de lamination issues allowing water to enter. If the issue was caught early you will

have no worries. Some of the units with early C-13 525 hp had over heating issues and needed extra

cooling for the transmission. Cat's had valve clearance issues on both the C-9 and C-13. C-15's are real

fuel hogs. Magna's suffer from Radiator issues like the rest of us. Some had troubles with the sensors

on the holding tanks feeding the silver leaf. There were some soft ware issues to but they should all

have been resolved by now on the silver leaf. Powered front curtains were an issue, some of the

powered window awnings failed, too. Indoor power cutains had a few issues, too. Some folks had

trouble with thin Corian counter tops cracking and loose floor tiles.
Goodyear tires didn't wear well and I thought the coaches with 295's were under sized and should have 315's.
The older coaches with 315's

on the front and 12R's on the rears and tags had scuffing issues with the tag tires. Some of the

coaches have 23,000 lb duals, which is to much for federal high ways and if the Feds weigh your coach

on toll roads you can be forced off. Some of the 05,06,and 07 have less carrying capacity than your

Inspire so watch out. 08 and newer coaches have to deal with DPF filter which can be a head ache.

They have window de lamination, and electric toilet issues just like everyone else. Its very costly to update to Hi def on a Magna so make sure the AV system is up to date. You might find your self loosing

anywhere from 1.5 to 2 mpg because of the increased and higher HP Cat engines. I would probably

look for a Cummins engine myself, but that's just me. You definitely want an Allison transmission

rather than a Cat. The Cummins is a self learning transmission, a Cat is not. It won't adapt to your

driving conditions or style like an Allison will. That big front windshield is very costly to replace. I agree I haven't heard of any checking with paint on newer and older Magnas.
The lighting is more

natural in the Afinity and Magna with the quartz lamps, but the overall light level is 3 to 4 F stops

dimmer and us old folks need all the light we can get. Oh you ever wonder why a Magna has 3 airs?

They need the 3rd air to cool the heat created by all the quartz lamps.
Friends of mine are changing to

LED's. Most but not all Magna's are all electric, meaning more big batteries for the house and more for the big engines. I guess Magnas have PTO issues. Eric has 3 nice ones in Tucson at great prices and of

course, Premier in Junction City has a good selection, too. Good luck.
All that being said if CC had

been is business in 2010, without issues, I would have wanted a Magna.
Loved the idea of the mid

coach desk and the ability to make a few up grades I couldn't on the 530 Intrigue.. Though having the

500 ISM for the Intrigue would have been all the engine I would have needed. Thus allowing me to burn

the older polluted fuel if I wished and hot having to deal with the DPF filter.

We have a 2007 Magna and have had a few issues but nothing like what we had on our 2002 Magna. We just returned from Country Coach in Junction City and having the front end aligned and Eric said that the 2007 was the last magna that had the best chassis and was well built. Our issues that we had them take care of were: Align the front end (ride much better), generator that could be started from inside the coach but couldn't be shut off from inside (they fixed 2 issues with it and it works), tag would not lift (they raise the air pressure on the tag and it now goes up 2 to 3 inches) and a couple of other little things. We were very impress with the service dept., when they were finished they set down with us and went over each item and told us what they did and if it was fixed. We would highly recommend them for service.

Hi pat. Do you get any wandering with your magna. The primary reason for the upgrade is for handling. I want the coach to stay in lane. With mine I ant even change the radio station without looking up and finding im heading out of lane.
Thanks

We have never had a wandering with the '07 and it even handles better since we had the front end aligned after putting new tire on the front. Eric at Country Coach said that the '07 Magna has a heavier chassis than some of the other models and the other models are very hard to align as the whole thing can torque as it goes down the road. We love ours. Pat
