On IRV2 Cummins board, they reported that yes the replacement units are now set for ULSF. One of the reasons I use XPD in each tank, is to hopefully stall this from taking place on our ISL. We have a 04 model, but found out that the engine was made in June of 2003 and is a CAPS unit.
Many owners report high miles on their ISL's and ISC's with no problem by running extra lubricants in their tanks. Figure it is low cost insurance, and the extra cetaine can't hurt either.
If, probably when, ours goes out - we'll add an additional pump to aid the replaced lift pump. Probably overkill, but not that much more $$ in the overall scheme of things. I will especially do this if I decide to go ahead with the MP-8 mod. (Still on the fence on this, as I find the ISL370 covers us well 95+% of the time. Suspect the ISL Common Rail would have given me that extra bit of power band range to satisfy me. But, no retro from CAPS to Common Rail:)!)
Best to all,
