ARP--A Potential Solution to Fridge Fires

Many of us are concerned about RV fridge fires. It's reported that the several manufacturers' recalls are ineffective and that our fridges still have high potential to cause fire. ARP (Absorption Refrigeration Protection) has designed and manufactured a temperature sensor which mounts on the fridge boiler tube and will shut the fridge down before it overheats at about 380 degrees versus the manufacturer recalls at about 800 degrees. Another feature is that it turns off a fridge when it is not level, for example, going up and down hills.
Along with several other Country Coach owners, we purchased a unit from ARP at the FMCA Indio rally. The owner, Paul Unmack, installed the unit at our RV park in Quartzsite where he is this week during the Sports Show. We opted for this solution as a preventive measure versus the more expensive, specially-designed fire extinguisher, which doesn't activate until the fire starts.

I went to there site and it's a novel approach to solve the problem. I noticed there was no pricing. What does the unit cost?

Just a note to yesterday's post--nothing takes the place of a fire extinguisher, and we will plan to add one in the fridge compartment for ultimate protection.

Both fire extinguishers and heat detection schemes can fail. Removing the possible source of a fire wins hands down in every case.

There is pricing if you go through the order process. I would recommend viewing the 4 videos in order. For the first time I think I now understand the actual cause and effect of these fridge failures. Out of level operation.
