Remco lube Pump

We are looking into options of towing our 2009 Yukon xl Denali. Remco says it can be towed with their lube pump but not from the factory.

Does anyone have experience good or bad with this option?

I pulled a PT cruiser with a Remco lube pump and it worked well.

We have the Remco pump on our 2004 Toyota Sienna. We were happy with the pump.

I installed the Remco Lube Pump kit on my 2007 Toyota Rav4, and tow it behind my 2008 CC Tribute 260. I initially had problems that turned out to be the pump, but upon replacement, it works fine. The vehicle is listed as "non-towable"?, due to being an all-wheel drive automatic transmission car. The Remco system simply takes the transmission fluid from the transmission pan, and routes it to the installed Remco pump, which then sends it to two different locations where it is again introduced back into the transmission to lube the entire assembly while the transmission is place in " Neutral"for towing, thus keeping the internal parts lubed, just as they would be during the normal driving process. There is a small unit (box) that is mounted at the drivers location in your coach, which warns the driver if the unit is not producing pressure from the pump. The only change that I would suggest to the system, is adding a pressure gauge, just downstream of the pump, to allow the driver to lift the hood from time to time and see what the pressure is the the pump is putting out. My first pump was putting out pressure, just not enough, thus the flow rate, which should be above 1 quart in 17 seconds, was low.

I have a remco pump kit on vehicle, it has been the most troublesome piece of equipment I have ever owned. We just bought a different vehicle to be rid of that headache.

Jason,

Your Yukon must not be 4 wheel drive. The 4WD versions are towable 4 wheels down, by putting the transfer case in N, and the transmission selector in P.

I have towed a Lexus with a lube pump for about 10 years. I did have the pump fail once and Remco found one for me immediately and let me know where it was to pick up. No other problems with the pump.

Thanks for all the responses. I will have to mull over this a bit. Looks like mostly positive experience.

Brad,

My Yukon is AWD and cannot switch the transfer case.
