Entry Door Check parts

Yahoo Message Number: 93914
I need the end piece that goes to a door check. This is the part that stops the entry door from opening too much.
they are known for breaking and the piece I need goes on the far end of the check on the inside of the door, If you have one please let me know.

Kevin, John and CC does not have the parts. It would be someone that replaced the part and saved the pieces. Thanks

Replace the whole thing with the heavy duty replacement and then not have to worry about it breaking again. Got mine from Kevin a few years ago.

This is a repost of a this message from 2011 about Door Checks. The cheapest source of the redesigned door check is from Russ Cedarholm (see below) -- He is the inventor of this excellent redesign. I just called him to verify that that he still has stock (as well as Kevin Waite in Oregon who has been getting his stock from Russ).

p.s. Probably over 1,000 installed by now.

I am posting this for Russ Cederholm.
..Just a quick note to tell you I just had two-hundred more door check rods made. It may be a good time to let folks know. You do a much better job posting than I. The new rod now comes with a rivet so it cut the install time down to about 1 hr.
Herb, because I gave some out for testing etc. there are about 250 installed. From information I received from Jim Cooley at CC, there were over 2700 of this model door that used the door check. This door was produced by Avionics which I now understand is either out of business or is going out of business. What is nice about the new rod is you do not have to replace the main part of the original door check assembly which I have no idea where one could be found. The part is used on GM SUV's and other models.
Just a note. I have had several people call or e-mail me saying the install went well and they loved the new rod.
Photos can be found in the "Door Check (Door Limit)" album in the Photos section of the CCO website.

Thanks

FYI,

I asked Russ Cederholm for one for my coach and the one he sent me will not fit a 2005 Inspire. He later stated he hasn't designed one for the Inspire and isn't interested and in refunding my money. I paid $55 for this one and will sell it for $45. The accompanying diagram shows it's for an Intrigue. I don't know if it will fit other models as well.

BOY... that is not very good customer relations. It's not like he can't sell it again, since it is unused.

Following posted for Russ Cedarholm, door check maker, by the CCO moderator.

"In the summer of 2009 I discovered a problem with the door Check assemble. I removed the entire unit from the door of my 2006 intrigue and discovered it was used in GM vehicles and the geometry was all wrong. In short, it was a bad design and would ultimately fail once the door was opened to far. As an engineer, I took it upon myself to fix mine. After talking to the powers to be at Country Coach, I found they were looking for a fix. I had the answer and my thoughts were only to solve the problem for other Country coach owners. I took some time to resign the system and used 303 s/s to replace the plastic part. Without getting in the engineering details, the door check, to date, is installed in over 700 coaches throughout the country . I also found out that there were over 2700 doors from Avionics corp. with the bad design.

"With reference to a couple of e-mails. 1st, I do not produce these one at a time. I produce them 200 at a time. 2nd, When someone calls me about the unit, I make sure they have the right door for the application. 3rd, I have been in the engineering business for a very long time and I do whatever it takes to make people happy. Those e-mails were not taken lightly because I have produced a part that works and has saved a lot of folks a lot of money and problems. This was a very small part of what I do. This is not a million dollar a year operation. I am happy that I have had the opportunity to solve a problem for the owners of Country Coaches. Nice to know when people open their door, it works because of what I built.

(Suggestion to Jim. Russ says for some reason he doesn't have record of the sale from you, but may have made the sale. If you have a shipping label from him in Florida, I would suggest you contact him again. He is surprised that there would have been a misunderstanding as to which 2005 Inspire door you have. Herb)

Herb, thanks for taking the time to help clarify the situation. Time to move on. Apparently the part I was sold will fit a 06 Intrigue so if anyone needs a door check for that coach let me know and you can have this one for free.

Jim, I got my door check parts from Kevin Waite. The part is different from most door checks used by CC.
