When does new warranty begin?

Hi all. I am in Florida, looking at a newer coach. It is the last Inspire Venice built 2010. The dealer that has it has not titled it yet, although he has put about 10,000 miles on it. Does that mean that the new coach warranty will begin when we purchase and title the vehicle, for the cummins engine and generator, refrigerator ect? Or do we need to purchase an extended warranty? We know of the good Sams, but hear negative remarks, and dealer told us they liked RvElite. It is about $3,400 a year or $4,600 for 2 yrs. sounded high to me. ?? Thanks Allan & Kay Neubauer

Here's my opinion for what it's worth.
Buy the extended warrenty.

It's better titled a service contract. Dealing with all the companies that provided the parts for a 4 year old coach will be next to impossible.
For me, the cost of the service contract I bought has almost been completely returned in 1.5 years.
I bought my contract from XtraRide for about $3500 for 5 years with a $500 deductible. XtraRide is a GREAT company. Easy to work with.
Service contracts are not all encompassing and hopefully you won't have to call them often but you are buying a motor home and wear & tear happens quickly.
But, it isn't even the small stuff. Covering engine, transmission and chassis parts is THE most important reason to protect your pocketbook!

While there is a Country Coach Corp. in existence today it is not the company that built these coaches. And since the company that built your coach is no longer in business there is no "new warranty". If you choose to purchase an extended warranty make sure what it covers and I can guarantee the reason the dealer "likes" any warranty is because they make the most money from selling that one. When we bought our first CC (96 Intrigue) we purchased an extended warranty for it. We used it a couple times but chose not to buy one for the next two CC's we bought (99 Magna and 06 Affinity) choosing to bank the warranty money. Being new there may be "new coach" bugs to work out although with 10k miles those should be worked out. I would think that the dealer would work with you to fix some things. I'm not sure if you are aware or not but that vintage of CC is the last that the old company built. Even though the original CC is out of business most parts are available. I guess what I am saying is I wouldn't be afraid of buying most Country Coaches out there today but I would be very careful buying one of that vintage and I'd want to know how/why the dealer has put 10k on it and it not been titled. Ask lots of questions and be sure you are getting real answers. I know dealers can own vehicles without changing the title and they can transfer from dealer to dealer without transferring them so my concern with this one would be how many dealers has it been passed through and why.

David, take my advice. Go to the Good Sams Extended Service Plan. I've had it for almost 15 years. It's reliable, you just have to be sure of your coverage and the plan spells it out in detail. I have a 04 Inspire and which I've had 3 years and have used this plan a number of times.

As other's have stated don't believe the "new" Country Coach will provide a warranty on the coach, however you could either drop them a line or call them and check. Since the dealer likes the RvElite package maybe he should include it in the purchase! These contracts are a high margin product for the dealer they have lots of room to negotiate on them. You do need to understand that any of these service contracts are NOT bumper to bumper warranties like you are used to with a car. They cover major components and most do not include time to diagnose the problem just the part(s) and labor to replace it.
On the subject of left-over new coaches, you might want to negotiate the replacement of all the batteries. Dealers are notorious for taking poor care of batteries, after all they don't keep all the coaches plugged in all the time. Our Dolphin was a one year left-over when we bought and we only got 3 years out of the batteries before they really didn't last for any real unplugged time. So after 4 years on this one I would be surprised if you got more than a year.
Wouldn't be as worried about the tires as their warranty starts when you title it, Michelin gave me almost half off on my tires when they started cracking after 5 years even though date codes said over 7 years old.

If you have a Caterpillar powertrain (engine and transmission) as I do in mine, then I am 95% sure Cterpillar will start their 5 yr 200,000 mile warreanty from the day the coach is first titled. That is what they did with mine and as an 08 it is still under factory warranty til 2015. As for service poilicies, we have Easy care which runs out in a couple months and these are the options we will be looking at:

I'd stay away from U.S. Warranty. I had a bad experience with them several years ago with my '05 Inspire. Refused to cover PTO, radiator, charge air cooler (CAC), and a couple of other things. Claimed "manufacturer's defect" for radiator, "part not listed in policy" for the PTO (beware...they use a "parts listed, parts covered" policy and, excuse me, but I forgot to notice that the PTO wasn't covered!!), and "part not listed" for the CAC (ditto for not noticing when I bought the policy!!). Just before going to court, the settled on the radiator, but nothing else. Made me feel lucky to get the $5k out of them!
I now have EasyCare and they list what IS NOT covered in the policy!
