04 Allure era - water filtering

Yahoo Message Number: 94379
I don't have ready access to our coaches 'boxes of info':)! A general question on this era CC's coach water filtration system. Is it filtering the waster as it comes 'out' of the tank and sent into the coaches water use areas? Or, is this only filtering water that is coming 'into' the tank when hooked up to a water supply line?

We fill our coach before leaving the Sticks & Bricks. I do this with a hose going directly into the tank, so it is not 'filtered' on the way in. As we'll be traveling more in the years ahead, thought I'd ask if the water pumped from the tank into the inside usage areas, is filtered.

TIA, and best to all,
Smitty

Our old school Allure has a water filter behind access panel in basement. Its behind the water fill area in heated bay.

Smitty,

On my coach the water filter was after both the tank and the street connection. It would not make a lot of sense any other way.

So Don - In your always tactful way, you're pointing out I made a "Duh Post"... !!

I can handle it, and yeah - now that I think of it, I can see the "Duh - a it would not make sense any other way!"

Best, to Don - and all,

Well Smitty, 'making sense' has not always been much of a priority with RV manufacturers over the years. I don't want to single out CC in that regard. It was easy for me to make that thoughtless reply because I already know how mine was hooked up. Sorry about that.

Caution Don - I once thought I understood all things about my wife too. Yet she surprises me from time to time on many fronts...

And most coaches are a true mix between engineering opinion (and they're never wrong), bean counters looking at profits - and every once and awhile, an owner of employee with enough clout - to do what is right... It worked for NASA to put a man on the moon (or at least on a Pasadena recording studio), All American Racers with the Eagle, and many of the Country Coaches too...

I changed my filter today, and yes - I traced out the pipes for the first time too, seeing is believing...

Yes wives do come with some neat accessories and they seldom are inoperative. It is a brave man that compares his wife in any respect to a motor home. Best of luck with that one.
I don't know how you found the task of changing the water filter but I assume, like line it is located behind a removable panel in the last bay adjacent to the water bay. I found it difficult to get the filter wrench provided under the filter canister to slide it up to grab it. The when I finally got it up there the support bracket was not tough enough to take the strain required to twist the canister off. I finally had to resort to grabbing the top portion of the canister with a very large pair of channel lock pliers to get it loose. No matter what steps I took putting it back trying to make sure it did not get that tight again, it always was. Plus it is difficult to remove the canister out of its enclosure without spilling water everywhere.
Because of the fact that I hated the job I always ran a second exterior filter out at the water stanchion to at least remove a lot of the junk first. it was a lot easier to replace the filter cartridge leaving me to change the inside on a lot less often.
When I first got our coach the filter cartridge was encased in a blue solid plastic wrapping. I forget the stats on its filtering but it was one designed to remove bacteria etc. It was way to fine and very hard to find a replacement. When I finally increased it to filter mesh of a more sensible size my water pressure in the sinks and shower increased dramatically. We only wanted something in a carbon base to help remove chlorine taste and smells. Both my wife and I believe the if we continue with the antibacterial cleaning craze the human race with sanitize itself into extinction. Actually both internal and external filters took the same cartridge.
