We have a Country Coach Intrigue 1996, with a Onan propane generator.

In the boonies with no hookup, how do we power my CPAP? We thought that if we turned the inverter on that the outlets would work without the generator. We were wrong.

Use a 12 v battery with a small dedicated inverter.

As a fellow CPAP user, I installed a 12 volt outlet next to my bed (tapped into the bed light) and run off the battery. Run the gen for about two hours in the morning and again in the evening to maintain charge.

Depending on your cpap if it has a brick it may be running off 12 volts. If so they may have a 12 cable available which will be much more efficient since otherwise you convert to ac and lose some power and then convert back to 12 volt and lose some more. I.E. any time you convert there are losses, really good inverters may have 80% efficiency. For every 10 amps it produces 8 amps in the new power.

Then something is wrong with your inverter as that is exactly what it is for. Perhaps is doesn't power the plug that you are using. You should have it checked out.

Thank you. Mr installed the 12 volt outlet today. It seems to be working fine.
