Battery disconnect switch 2000 Country Coach Allure

Yahoo Message Number: 95222
Does anyone know where there may be a batter disconnect switch on this coach? Some suggestions were on the left of the entry to the coach but I have no switches there. I have 4 on the right however they are for step, porch lite, and other lights in the coach.

Mine on my 2000 Magna are House (Toggle switch) on over head dash. Coach is in the bay that the inverter is in On the front bay wall. (Rotary switch) I don"t know if your model will be the same. But this is some ware to look.

Thanks Bo. I will recheck the overhead dash, not sure that I completely looked there.

Diane,

Look in the last bay on the passenger side and you should see 2 switches, one will be labeled HOUSE. That bay also has 2 fuel filters in it. This is the way my 99 Allure is set up.

Thanks Bill. I did check those 2 switches and both the chassis and the house are turned on. Are you aware of any other type of disconnect switch up in the front of the coach, around the dash, or overhead compartments that may be crucial? Several people have talked about a main switch inside the door on the left but I have no switches there and 4 on the right of the steps however those are for the step, porch light, and ceiling lights. I would imagine your 2000 coach is the same as mine. Have you ever had trouble with no power inside?

Diane,

Those front disconnect switches referred to do not apply to your coach, they were put on newer coaches.

I went back and read your original post.

You indicated the lights on the transfer switch behind the breaker panel are on so you are getting power into the coach.

You drove the coach so the battery disconnects in the last bay passenger side are on.

You said you reset the ground fault, probably in the bedroom, but that still may be your problem.

Did you check to see it the inverter, in the battery bay, switches are on. They do trip.

Does your air-conditioner come on? It does not go through the inverter.

Thanks Richard. I did check the inverter and none of the buttons are popped. I will check them again. My understanding is that the power switch at that site should be off, as it has been, as I control the inverter from the control panel above the door inside the coach.
I have not tried the air conditioner but will do that. I did have the furnace on but it only heated with the coach/generator on.
I unplugged the coach, turned the key on the surge protector off and back on, replugged in the coach and after 2.5 minutes the light quit blinking, heard the clunk when power kicks in, the light turned solid, and I could hear low grade buzz that power was inside.

Not sure why you would have turn off the shore power at the site unless you are running on the generator. You can stay plugged in even with the generator on, no problem with that.

The reason I suggested running the air conditioner is that it is a separate 110v system from the inverter system.

If you are plugged in at the site or running off the generator and your air conditioner works but the other 110v plugs, such as microwave or TV, are not working then your problem probably is in the inverter system.

I would be happy to give you a call if necessary.

Thanks. I only disconnected the shore power to try resetting the surge protector just to see what happened, otherwise the coach is plugged in. When you mention the air conditioner and the 110V I didn't mention that my microwave and tv are working so it seems to be mainly the 12V problem.

If your problem is 12 volt what is the charge level on your house batteries? They could be quite low and the inverter/charger is not keeping up or not working.

In testing the batteries from one end to the other on the serial hook-up they tested 13+ so seem to be fully charged. We did not check each battery individually.

Diane,

The only trouble that I have had with 12 volt is when the GFI plug that is in the bedroom gave up. We have lived in the coach full time now for 16 years so feel fortunate that this old rig was so well built. Do not know of any other switch that will kill 12 volt in rig of this age

2001 Intrigue battery switches are back in the battery compartment on the forward bulkhead. Two of them, one chasis, and one house. Good luck. Ron
