Newbies shopping for coach, need advice

Yahoo Message Number: 96521
Hi all. New to the group and we're looking for our first diesel coach. We have always wanted a Country Coach but are befuddled as to which model. This will be our last hurrah as my health is declining and we want to travel while I still can. We're also wanting a coach 40 to 42 feet with the capability of towing a 5k toad. We're in the the 100k to 120k price range. I've found a 2005 Allure 470 quad slide with a little over 50k miles but I'm also seeing older coaches, Intrigues and Magnas in the same price range. Could someone school me a little on the difference in quality and engine desirability in these models. Also wondering if the coaches on the lower end of the scale such as the Inspire are a decent choice. Thanks.

Welcome. I would guess that all of us started with many questions. In our case we bought a 36-foot 1995 INTRIGUE with a 300hp Cummins without a slide. It suits our needs for a rolling home. It has simple systems that are easy to maintain. It has the basic features for which Country Coach is famous such as steel frames and a very fine roof system. I addition, it gets about 10 mpg due to its weight being only 28000.
On todays market, fine older coaches can be had in the $30-60K range. One thing to look for is full factory documentation and maintenance records. Once you have found what you think you're after, get an "expert" to check all systems and a driving check. RUSS WARREN, BREMERTON, WA
