Advice re Four Corners area

Yahoo Message Number: 97807
I'm planning to leave Albuquerque early next week and head back to Oregon and would like to see parts of the four corners area (Utah, Colorado, NM, Arizona. Does anyone have advice on what not to miss, routing, roads that will easily take 45' plus a CR-V tow, campgrounds for same? I'd really like to do the million $$ highway from Durango to Montrose (haven't seen it since I was a kid when my family spent summers on the Cimmaron River), but may opt to do that in the CR-V.

Thoughts and ideas welcome and thanks mucho in advance.

Not sure how much time you want to spend, but there are some great places to see in Southern Utah.

Monument Valley is spectacular.

The famous scene in Forest Gump where he finally stops running is there:

I loved the Moki Dugway Highway. We actually traversed it in our 40' allure with my Chevy Avalanche toad! It has some sharp switchbacks, was actually fun!

Mexican Hat is a quick stop off and pretty cool to see.

I would forego the actually 4 corners area, is nothing more than a monument (re: tourist trap) run by the local tribe. (don't remember which tribe)

We stayed at Gouldings Campround - spectacular views as well.

Further west is Zion and Bryce National Parks, both are spectacular and worth seeing if you haven't already.

Hope this helps!

Been up to Silverton many times and have stayed there in the RV park for a week. My advice is to park the RV and take in the miles of trails in your tow. Either way use the jake and stay under 40 & 1500 RPM's big down hills as well as up. Sent from Yahoo Mail for iPhone From:

The Million Dollar highway toward Montrose is fine. The reverse route is easy but it will keep you focused on the road as there is about a 1000 foot drop off with no shoulder or guard rail.

We did park the rig in Ouray and drove the highway in our jeep so that we could sight see and pull over for photo ops. We then drove from Ouray to Silverton and it was a special adventure. Ouray and Silverton are pretty cool.
