Hi

I have a 2002 allure. It has the kwikee series 42 step. Mine quite working and powergear/kwikee makes a replacement kit.
It includes a new controller, motor and new gear swing arm assembly that attaches to the steps.

Check with American RV Company out of Azusa, CA. They might have the parts for less. The schematic will be on the kwikee web page

I'm working nights at the moment but if you will email me at jerry, kirby@... this afternoon I may be able to help you some. I have the heavy metal pieces with the motor and gear that works if compatible. Mine was 2003 Magna.

Anyway, if you need it you can have it for the price of shipping. It's a fairly heavy assembly. I'd take a guess at 35-40 lbs.

If is just the motor (ours has died two times in the last 19 years), a replacement can be found at Amazon for less than $30.

This compairs to estimates of $400 + received locally. A do it yourself 2 hour job if that is the problem for your step.

I bent our step assembly, thought it had retracted when I was backing out our barn and it caught the garage door rail.

Had to take the entire unit down replace the slide rails and re-install. Very much a pain in the rear.

New rails can be purchased from Lippert Components Sliding step Draw Assembly. 1-574-537-8900 Just FYI

Thanks

I learned how to take the rails apart and straighten them when we had our 98 Allure. All you need is a 3 ft piece of 130 lb. railroad rail, the appropriate sized 1/2 inch drive hardened Snap-on Sockets and a 16 ounce ball pean hammer. Having a heavy duty rivet tool and the right sized stainless steel rivets helps, too. Thank god the Intrigues steps automatically retract when I start the engine which means I have not had step issues with this coach. But I still have an extra set of rails.

Jim, your link to Amazon brings up a whole bunch of Ford parts. Which one is the motor? Also, do you think it fits later models?
