Tecma Toilet Water Level

My Tecma toilet is not holding the proper static water level. The manual says the factory setting is 1/2" above the top of the bowl outlet. The bowl does fill to that level after a flush but it then slowly drops to about 1/4" below the top of bowl outlet. I have read the manual thoroughly and there is no reference to this issue. I suspect a leaking check valve or something similar. I have done the manual water level adjustment but it always drops no matter how full I adjust.

Looking for suggestions from anyone who has had similar issue.

Have you tried filling the bowl with hot soapy water and leaving it standing for 5-10 minutes. Then flush? Some detritus may be fouling a valve.

I've had this same issue periodically. I'll clean the toilet well and then put some white silicone grease or Vaseline on the gasket between the flap and the bowl. That seems to soften up the gasket a bit and it will then hold the water. Some times, it takes several applications to get the water to hold.

Paul,

Use plumber's grease. Do not use Vaseline--it coagulates. Plumber's grease comes in a very small plastic container. Available at Lowe's, etc.

OK, I am getting confused. You are referring to lubricating a flap but I am not sure that applies to the Tecma macerator toilet. All of the workings of the Tecma are behind the bowl and I am sure the entire toilet must be removed to access and service/repair those parts.

Hello All

Haven't posted for quite a while. I had this same issue with the Tecma in my 08 Intrigue. Easy fix - there is a black plastic discharge tube through which the contents of the toilet are emptied - located at the back of the toilet. This tube has a loop at the top of it - if the installers pushed this tube too far down onto the discharge pipe coming up from the floor then the BOTTOM surface of the loop in the tube is too low - it needs to be at least at the heighth of the desired water level in the bowl - it can be higher but NOT lower.
