Lighted entry assist handle

Recently we experienced a heavy rain, after which the light in our entry assist handle started to flicker, like a flourescent bulb failing. Last night the bulb failed completely. Disassemblying it this morning, I found water had entered and caused the failure. I also found enough corrosion inside to indicate water has been getting it for some time.

I ordered a new bulb assembly (it includes a small reflector, a resistor and wiring) from CC and it will ship today. Re- installation will be straight forward, so no real problem.

I just wanted others to know, as you may want to check sealing on the metal portions of the lighted entry assist handle. I think use may break the seal on the thin foam gasket, allowing water entry.
This can be remedied by applying a thin layer of caulking and/or tightening the screws. Lastly, I would suggest that if the light flickers after rain, open, dry and reseal to save the bulb!

Dick's campers and trailer in American Canyon, CA (Napa Valley) has them in stock. Give him a call at (707)552-4926 and he can ship one to you. They don't have Country Coach etched, but what the heck. Hope this helps.
