The dark colors checking and cracking. Light color good. Any info on repainting East of the Mississippi would be appreciated. Is it worth it? Will it check/crack again? Who paints? Thanks, Jeff Titcomb

Copied this from another forum (other brand of RV). Some call it paint checking, some call it fiberglass gassing, etc. It happens to all brands of MHs and has been happening since as far back as 1999. It happens to dark colors on MH sides when heated by the sun. It is the Owing fiberglass side panels releasing gas when heated. Repainting the coach is a temporary fix. The entire sides of the MH need to be replaced, about $50k.

So if you have it painted  the checking or gassing will come back.  This is not unique to Country Coach.

Ours is checking a little but we decided to leave it alone.

We did have some work done in Bremen Indiana at Mike's Custom Painting and were very pleased with the work and the price.

I was just at the FMCA South East Rally in Sarasota. Premier Coach in Lakeland comes highly recommended.  Pay them a visit. Kevin01 Magna 5982

As already noted, a repaint will likely hide it for some time but it can come back. I had a 2002 Winnebago that had the checking even on the white, unpainted gelcoat. At the time we thought we would be keeping the coach so we had a full body paint job done. They sanded the sides well, used a high fill primer and put four coats of clear over the new base colors. It was stunning. When we traded the coach about 3 years later, I could see some of the crazing starting to reappear but it was not noticeable to someone not really looking for it. I do know that all three painters who gave me estimates (including Precision in Bremen, IN) would not guarantee that painting would resolve it.
