Help from Anyone Towing a 2014-2015 Jeep Cherokee with Air Force One

Yahoo Message Number: 100720

We just got our Jeep back from having an Air Force One installed and we are now getting a vehicle error message that results from a vacuum leak according to our Jeep dealer.  I called SMI and they said that they were having some issues with some new cars and that there needed to be two check valves installed.  Well, our system did not come with two check valves nor do the instructions tell you what to do with two check valves.  I am going to call SMI again in the morning (we are in MST in Tucson and they are in CDT in Indiana) but I was hoping someone who's system worked could look at their installation and tell me how many check valves and where they are installed.  Our single check valve is installed between the AFO control box and the Tee in the vacuum line.  The instructions show the check valve installed between the Tee and the engine.  I have posted a link to a picture of our setup in the Photos section of this group.

Thanks for any information,
Bob

Hi Bob,

I have a Jeep Wrangler and the valve is not located between the "T" and the control box. It's located between the "T" and the engine with the white plastic part towards the engine. Looks like the valve may be in the wrong place.

We just installed on our 2014 Grand Jeep Cherokee and will double check in the a.m. but believe we only have one.  We've towed only twice so far, but no issues. I can't access the photos for some reason to see your pic.

We had the same thing happen with our 2014 Subaru Forester, although it did not occur for several months. Our guy in Oregon installed a second check valve on th other side of the T tofurther isolate the control unit.

After talking to SMI and getting back with the installer we determined that one check valve had NOT been installed and the check valve that was installed was backwards.  Switched the polarity on the check valve in the controller to Tee hose and added the check valve between the Tee and the engine and all seems to be well at the moment.  Thanks to everyone who responded.
