Reccomendions needed 2005 Inspire

Yahoo Message Number: 101118
Hello to all,

My wife and I where on our way to Union City to have some work done on our 2005 Inspire #51486 and I fell ill in El Cajon. I had to have some surgery and could not schedule any appointments for our coach until I was released from my surgeon. That occurred this past Wednesday so we are headed north. I do have a wish list and would like some feed back as to where to have some or all of our list completed. I'm also asking for experience/cost estimates for my list. I'm spending and staying until we run out of money lol.

  • PTO      upgrade
  • Replace      our refrigerator
  • Chassis      shocks, alignment, repairs if needed.
  • I bent      the mount on my left rear jack (soft ground) Sill working fine.
  • Motorized      window shades (windshield and cockpit windows first)
  • Windows      defogged
  • Talk      with an interior designer.

Thanks,
Leon

Leon.

Glad you up and doing better.
My 2ยข;

PTO upgrade a absolute must.

I would NOT replace the frig. I replaced the cooling unit from Pines RV  refrigeration (RV Cooling Unit Warehouse).

The rest of the stuff is as needed and what you can afford.

Leon,

Get the PTO wet kit done first. I paid $325 for mine and DIY'd the labor.
I would address the refrigerator asap. I replaced mine with the new Samsung RF-18 model. It's been working fine on my modified sine wave inverter without any battery upgrades. $1000 on sale Home Depot. HD will deliver free and put it in your coach, not installed. It will fit through your front door.
Henderson's Line Up is a good place to get your alignment done. Have them set the camber toward the high limit and the toe in at 3/8". This is greater than the Nuway spec calls for but will make a huge difference in wander control.
I suggest replacing the original anti sway bar end link bushings with oversized polyurethane bushings from Energy Suspension. You will need 8 @ $8 each.
If you have the original shocks, Koni SP-1 generation have Henderson's replace them with updated Koni SP-3 shocks set at 3/4 stiffness. Also have them set your rear shocks to maximum stiffness. I would also have Henderson's install their MCU's (motion control units). Doing everything above will dramatically improve sway, bounce, wandering and passing big rig wind stream blow.
Don't forget to have Henderson's set your ride height before they begin work.
All the above suspension work should cost about $1200. A VERY worth while Investment.

You didn't mention your tires! First of all, make sure your tire pressures are set correctly for your coaches loaded weight. If your tires are older that seven or eight years old, regardless of how the look, you should get them replaced ASAP. THIS IS CRITICAL FOR SAFETY.
Dave Root will fix your fogged windows. Dave sells a DIY kit that will do about five windows for about $250. Or Dave will repair your windows for you. I don't know what Dave charges as I went the DIY route.
If you have the original aluminum radiator keep an eye on it as it will most likely begin leaking at some point. This is not a cheap repair, about $5-6k.
Call and talk to Kevin Waite regarding remodels and upgrades, he can help you in that area. Kevin's phone is 541-953-6162. Keven is also a great technical resource.
At this point I've probably given you more information than you were looking for! The 2005 Inspire can be a great coach after you address the warts.
Good Luck!
RJ

Thank you so much for taking the time to respond in such length. This info is great! I use to do all my work, but now with some of my disabilities I have to pick and choose my poison. I have about 200lbs of tools in the basement. lol Its hard for me to give up DIY stuff, but you have given me some choices.

I agree with your order and after driving I-5 today I have to firm up my chassis. I was not the only one bouncing on the bridges today and California needs some more dip warning signs!

Thanks again,
Leon
