I need to have you all chime in on the pros and cons of Lp gensets

think I look at it that way simply from the standpoint of resale

have all of the propane shutdown when rolling.

\[br\] Matt\:\[br\] We are happy owners of an Intrigue #11021 with a diesel gen set\.\[br\] The coaches of that vintage standardly came with a propane gen set\[br\] but fortunately the previous owner had the presense of mind to go diesel\.\[br\] I speak for 2 previous gas gen set coaches and must say the\[br\] engineering that has gone into the modern diesel sets makes them\[br\] quieter than our old gas ones\. Now for the bare truth, our first Onan\[br\] ran better and quieter for 21 years than the Onan Emerald 4000kw more\[br\] modern unit in our next unit\[br\] I have not seen any appreciable differnce in the noise factor between\[br\] gas and propane\. There is some side benifits of propane over gas in\[br\] the form of wear and mauntenance I am told, but the diesel engines\[br\] being used are of a very high quality and should reasonably outlast\[br\] the gas or propane versions\.\[br\]\[br\] The last time I looked propane cost more than diesel in most areas\. It\[br\] is certainly less convenient to acquire\. Diesel fuel is a safer\[br\] comodity to handle and far less capable of explosion in the inviroment\[br\] of a fire\.\[br\]\[br\] As an aside we ran our unit 16 hour a day for 5 days while our\[br\] comunity was out of power during hurricane Isabel, while feeding\[br\] electricity to my house and that of a neighbor\. I have no concern for\[br\] it's ability to handle the demand\.\[br\]\[br\] Truth be known while the deisel was running in the front drive I had a\[br\] single cylinder world war II belt driven 1800 RPM gas generator\[br\] running the same amount of time feeding another house in the back yard\.\[br\] If the choice is between diesel or propane , and you can rationalize\[br\] the up charge for diesel definately go for it\. I know of no one who\[br\] has complained of making that decision\.\[br\]\[br\] One complaint I do have is of some brand new technology diesel Onan\[br\] gen sets which change RPM every time the load varies\. They are a darn\[br\] nusense to be camped next to\. Every time the air conditioner cycles\[br\] the gen set changes\.
