House battery charger overheating

This weekend I got our coach out of storage. The house batteries were quite low. It was a 90 degree day and my xantrix (however you spell it) kept overheating. It would cool down then restart. It was trying to charge at 75 to 100 amps. Is this normal. ?? Brian O'DAY

Brian,

Can you hear the cooling fan running inside the Xantrex? It may have died. A computer fan can be used to replace it if you are handy.

I would say the shutdown is normal. It is to protect the FETs and the transformer. If you have a battery temp monitor, it will also shutdown if the batteries get to hot. Once the charge rate drops to a lower level, the problem will go away

Have checked the water in the batteries?  Low water can create the condition to cause over charginf.

Thanks for the responses. The fan isn't running on the inverter. I will replace it this weekend.
