dead engine battery

Shop allowed coach inside for a week and not plugged in with all interior lights on. As a result both interline gel batteries and acid engine battery at zero. Engine battery will not take nor hold a charge, house batteries will with solar keeping them charged fully. In replacing engine battery, I recall something relating to OEM needs to be reset? anyone with an idea of what that is and how to reset same????? Help

Hi Ron - Well that does not sound like fun:)!

What coach model year engine do you have, as that might help others answer you specific question.

The only think I recall having to reset when swapping out our chassis battery, was the Hydro Hot Low Voltage. But that was because i had also shut off the master switch from the House Battery too.

Different coaches may have different requirements, so hopefully someone else can chime in for your rig.

We have a 2005 CC Inspire #51264 with a Cat C-9 engine.
I'm fairly coach/electrical savy however, this one threw me a curve.

Engine battery does not usually charge off in inverter charger, you must put a jumper from house batteries. If you have proper voltage in starter batteries and no power check connections.

As far as engine batteries charging off of the inverter, I have an Echo Charge on my 2000 Magna that will charge the engine batteries once the house batteries have reached a set voltage. It is a $100 item that is extremely easy to install.

I do believe all of our coaches have an echo charger which does allow chassis engine battery to charge when the inverter is charging, shore or gen. power. It is a small trickle charge maybe 10 or 15 amps but sufficient to charge a dead battery overnight or a little longer. I do know that after time the echo chargers go bad as all things do over time. Plug coach in and let inverters come on and check battery voltage on chassis battery and see if it is charging. I suspect the echo charger went bad as it did in our last 2000 CC Allure. And I do believe they divert the trickle charge as long as inverter is charging not at a certain voltage (could be wrong).

If you have an echo charger check the fuse first as this was one of my solutions to engine batt charging issues.

shop allowed coach inside for 5 days with all lights on and not plugged in, thus all batteries down to zero. Replaced engine lead acid as it would not take a charge and all functions working except cannot get 110 ac into the coach from generator or inverter. Seems to not be passed by the high voltage protector/2 minute delay. Any suggestions would sure be appreciated.

This is not correct. Every modern CC charges the chassis battery from the inverter charger. That is the purpose of the Echo Charger which most coaches have.

I know the Prevost conversions don't charge the chassis batteries from any of the coach electrical system's .I guess that has something to do with the chassis electrical system being 24'v..

I have had the same problem, turned out to be the inveter. mine has a reset button(zantrex 3000) on the front of the case . pushed the button an all was good again. Hope your issue is as simple.

Do you get 110 from shore power? Possibility the transfer switch is issue.
Are the house batteries charged? If not the inverter will not supply any power.

The Echo charger doesn't work on mine. There is two diodes attached to the solonoid connecting house and engine batteries. The echo measure the voltage difference or something like that.
On ours one of the diodes is rotted off.

Therefore I manually block the boost switch once in a while at a campsite.

In regards of not getting power from your generator, did you check the main 110v breaker at the generator?
