Snow Chains - Not recommended

We take I-5 all the way. It's a primary freeway, announced closed when dangerous, plowed fairly quickly, has lots of nearby off-the-road civilization for pulling off and waiting a few hours, and has frequent reporting of conditions. Junction City is just off Eugene's multi-lane beltway that exits I-5. The snow in this entire area does not, and is not allowed to, impede traffic on high-use roads for very long.

Watch weather reports for all of the area north of Yreka to north of Eugene--especially the Mt. Shasta/Grant's Pass areas. When I-5 is going to be a problem, there are constant reports on local radio and TV. All truck stops will have information. Many people at rest stops will have information.

You should have provisions in your MH to wait a few hours now and then. There are many RV parks and Walmarts, etc., along the way. Follow instructions given elsewhere on this forum to drive midday and get off before night. Plan your trip so that you get to Junction City before you need to be there. Even if you are late, you probably will be serviced ASAP; Junction City people appreciate the business and are good about that.
