Campgrounds for Zion & Bryce

We are planning on heading out west in June. Wondering the best place to stay to visit both parks. We are going to do the whole area, be out there maybe a month.

Thanks.

Linda,

We camped at Bryce Canyon Pines. onHighway 12 mile marker 10, Bryce, UT 84764. Phone: (800) 892-7923 and drove to Zion from there. I suggest you do Zion first because Bryce is so magnificent it will spoil you for seeing all the others. It's only 6 miles from Bryce and 70 miles from Zion.

The National Parks are my favorite trip. I have done them several times and would do them again.

Have a wonderful trip

My preference at Zion is the Park campgrounds at the south end of the park. Easy access to the shuttle that one is required to use to enter and tour the park (as should likely be required for many of our overcrowded parks).

In Bryce, we used Ruby's Camp and RV Park and found it very adaptable for our needs, although Bryce can be very crowded in higher season.

Whilst in Zion, don't miss the opportunity to try Polygamy Porter ("Can't have just one"), a fine brew. Tee shirts are (or were, at least then) available, ready to shock those who don't read beyond the first line of the message.

As of our visit last year, there are two public campgrounds, one taking reservations, and the other luck of the day. Actually liked the luck of the day version better as it was closer to the river. Good walking and bike paths there as well. The tunnel in and out of Zion on the East is one way for motorhomes of a specified height and you can call the park service for info re the charge, height limit, and reservations. There were a few private campgrounds within quarter or half mile of the park on the west side.

Don't recall any private ones near Bryce, but there are several public ones all within walking distance of the rim trail. many of the trail head parking areas have RV parking spaces.

The parks are very different, and both spectacular in their own way. The one precaution is Zion's slot canyons which have streams that go from inches to feet suddenly following thunder storms which are beyond sight of the trails. Good reason to talk with the rangers.

We've been there a few times, and taking the loop of canyons drive is high on our list for the coming year.

We are 51748. Had a Beaver Monterey 30 for a long time and sold to our RV tech guy when we bought our Inspire last April. Been from coast to coast and in sight of Mexico and Canada in it since (11000 miles).

We went to Bryce first, stayed several days hiking and riding our bikes. Frankly liked it better than Zion but both are great. We stayed in the federal campground closest to the west gate of Zion, an the one closet to the gate in Bryce, but all of federal campgrounds were nice, and such locations that we'd be happy in any of them. My guess is we will head that way in April (after taxes) and weather permitting. Forty some years ago we had our first motorhome in snow, got it stopped without damage, waited out the weather and headed south, and once was enough!

Enjoy the canyons!

Michael

We've had kinks to work out in our CC. Broken thermostat in the engine, Electronic Control Module replaced, cab air problems, and a loose injector control wire. We've learned to take it to the Cat folks who really know it. We've replaced a half dozen shear pins in the slides (now a 10 minute job for me) and one slide fuse on the house. We had into the factory for routine service and they also adjusted the ride height. We've added two solar chargers on the roof as we rarely hook up in the places we go. As with each of the RVs we've owned, you get the bugs reduced to a minimum and keep going!

That's a lot of stuff, but it's true for all. Have you had any explanation for the number of shear pins needing to be replaced? Like your last sentence a lot! Thanks, and good luck. Mike and Mary 06 Inspire 51784

learned their are grades of bolts. Grade 8 bolts are stronger than typical hardware store bolts. They work, but the actual shear pin from CC is best. I think the previous owner had used hardware store bolts and I replaced these as a one at time learning experience!

If you are still having issues with shear pins? I would make sure the electric motor bolts holding it in place are tight. I had this issue with my 2005 Inspire until I found the bolts loose. Once I discovered the loose bolts, problem solved.

Greetings Everyone....

I keep receiving a LOT of e-mails that are addressed to Kevin Waite FROM Kevin Waite.
I called Kevin but he has no idea how this is happening.
The e-mails are actually from Yahoo Group members NOT Kevin.
Does anyone else have this issue?
How do I solve this puzzle?
