Cleaning sight glass, coolant recovery tank

Does anyone know how, if possible, you can open/disassemble the sight glass on the coolant recovery tank? Mine has some gunk in it and a glob of goo floating on top of the liquid column. Also, the liquid in the glass is clear but the coolant inside the tank is dark pink. Makes me wonder if the sight glass is stopped up.

Suggestions appreciated.
