Antenna Signal Booster

Yahoo Message Number: 104956
I'm in the process of cutting my Direct Satellite Service, the cost just keeps going up.
Is there an effective Over-The -Air antenna signal booster that I should consider.
I'm using the Winegard Sensor IV antenna.

The Sensar IV is one of the better OTA antennas.

I have one, and I also have the RAZR Auto OTA antenna too. The majority of the time, the RAZR Auto OTA is the one we use the most, as it will usually pull in the OTA channels in the area. Every once in awhile, I'll go ahead an change over to the Sensar IV. It will pull in a signal from a further distance then the RAZR Auto.

I still have Direct TV, and usually watch OTA to get local area news. I added the Sensar IV, as I wanted a raisable mast to attach WiFi and Cellular Antennas too, and get them up a bit higher off of the roof.

In addition to Direct TV and OTA, we also stream Netflix and or Amazon almost daily. I have a Verizon Grandfathered Unlimited Data Plan, and quite often have a strong enough signal to stream. I use three different vehicles for streaming: Samsung Smart TV, Oppo BluRay BDP-93D, and I still have a Roku in the mix too... Usually use the Samsung Smart TV due to KISS for the DW. The Oppo streams the best quality picture, via Darbee. Though it is not really needed, the Samsung is a 4K TV, and the Oppo with Darbee really can bring out the best picture.

So, that is how we handle the TV routine. We enjoy sports, movies, and maybe 4 or 5 current shows. We travel with an arsenal of ripped Movies and a few series too.

Best,

Smitty

I-10 and the Border Highway will be shut down this Sunday from 3:00 AM to 3:00 pm. from Sunland Park Drive to Executive RD. So if you have to come thru El Paso you have three choices. You can either go over the mountains taking Transmountain Road to the North South Freeway to rejoin I-10 just South of Ft Bliss. If you miss I-10 you'll might end up on the access to Old Mexico and will not be able to turn around with out entering Mexico. A very bad situation. Or you can turn off at the Anthony exit, turn left go thru Anthony gap and rejoin the North South Free way. Or you can avoid the issue by traveling through El Paso on Saturday or after late afternoon on Sunday. I would just stay away unless you are very familiar with the area and alternate Routes. We're not in the area of I 10, but I feel the name to write and give a huge thank you to Thomas Insall and Corina Welsh for the information. We're not familiar with the routes Tom has given, and we will sure be happy to not be on those roads! Thanks!!! Mary and Mike Frederick 06 Inspire 51784

The I-10 delays between Tucson and Benson are due to two things: 1. repair and rebuild of bridges and 2. really poor traffic management by the AZ dept of roads. We recently spent over an hour in stop and go traffic there.

I-25 is being worked over in Las Cruces, too. Between the Wye with I-10 and Loman its down to one lane each way, snaking from one side to the other as bridges are rebuilt. Sort of reminds me of San Antonino when I-35 and the Loop around town were being upgraded and some parts elevated. Believe it or not with all of our seismic activity the Highway department is reluctant to install true elevated highways in El Paso and yet the insist on installing very tall interchanges. Hi Mary,

There should be a white push button breaker(s) on the side of the Xantrex. Try giving it a push.

My first question would be why is the transfer switch looking to the inverter for power when you are plugged into shore power? As I understand the transfer looks to generator then shore power then inverter.

Mary - Yes to trying the reset. If that does not get things flowing.

Try a CLTR ALT DELETE:)!

-Turn the power off at the pole

-Turn off the inverter/charger back at the unit it self -Look at the sky for a few minutes -Power back on the inverter/charger -Turn the power back on at the pole

Our previous CC OEM Inverter/Charger (A good unit, good rep, but we wanted PSW and were beefing up power from 2000W to 2800W for residential fridge, induction counter top, and HiFi (Got Tubes?) power feeding.) On our first trip with the coach, everything just seemed to stop working:)! I poked around the best that I could. And finally a nice CC owner sent me a PM to try the above... Got me back up and running...

Best to you...

Oh - And since this is a piggy back post. Thanks to Thomas on and others on the freeway closings. Not traveling in that direction, but sure know that could help others avoid a stressful day:)!

Best to all too,

Smitty

No the inverter is always in circuit. If ac power applied at input internal transfer switch activates and bypasses inverter. Allowing charger to operate also.

Sounds like a problem with internal transfer switch/circuit since turning off the inverter seems to solve the issue.

One test you might want to perform is unplug from shore power and see if you get ac power. This would help with determining urgency of repair or replacement.

One other important thing to check. Are your batteries charging and staying charged? If not this could up the urgency also.

Just had the same problem. It was the transfer switch but it caught fire later that night. So be careful. Ended up by replacing the inverter with the magnum 2812 which fit perfect. Check Imarine for pricing.

Sounds like it might be the transfer switch inside the inverter has gone bad. That will affect anything that goes through the inverter on shore power or not.

when something like this happens we check all the breakers in the main fuse panel, all the GFI outlets and the battery disconnect switch. Sometimes one is tripped.

I have an 07 allure Siskiyou summit and went through for Xantrex inverters. The last time I got a new one as a replacement I put it on eBay and sold it and put a magnum in the coach and have had no problems since 2 years ago requires some programming and a little rewiring for the Silverleaf but it was the best thing I ever did

Thanks, Brian Morrow. We are now with an rv tech, a mobile guy, who is gracious enough to be with us at 6:00 pm EST, Saturday evening, and hoping to figure out what's wrong. I'm sure we'll be getting a new inverter. We got to know this fellow because our rear AC wouldn't work as of our arrival in FL last Tuesday, and add this electrical fiasco (meaning it appears more than one thing is wrong), we're grateful for any information from any of our fellow coach owners to get us going forward. If it weren't for the support of the folks on this blog, we'd feel lost. I am very grateful for our fellow CC coach owners. If anyone happens to be in the beautiful and very accommodating Myakka River Motorcoach Resort, a new one that is absolutely beautiful, we'd love to know. There appear to be 2 CC Intrigue coaches here, and we'll try to catch up with them tomorrow.

Hi Mary I have stayed at Myakka several times and it's a nice place alligators and all. I've been traveling for the last 8 years in my 2007 allure not full time but six out of the 8 years. I have replaced or repaired about 50 percent of the parts in my coach over that time, so I have a pretty good knowledge and background on Country Coach. The 2800 pure sine wave inverter by Magnum is one of the best inverters. My suggestion is replace your xantrax. You will need a little wiring and a new control panel and if you have a Silverleaf you'll have to get an adapter module to run the Silverleaf. You won't need the adapter if you don't care about the Silverleaf for now, but you will need a control panel if not the silverleaf to control the inverter. It's not complicated and it's well worth it for any electrician to perform. One suggestion is place the inverter in a cooler location if possible. I moved mine to a mid-bay center location with cooling fans that exit underneath the couch.

There is a pin breaker on the inverter that controls the 120 to the coach. It is in addition to the main breaker for the inverter.

I personally wouldn't bother trying to reprogram an older Silverleaf. I would just use the control panel for a magnum as is. By the way the new Silverleaf will not only program the inverters but are great for monitoring all aspects of the engine from oil pressure, oil temperature, turbo boost Etc. I had so many failures (4) with my zantrax 3000 Pure sine wave inverter I gave up on them. I am going into my third year with my 2800 Magnum inverter with no problems at all.

Thank you to all of you who have been so helpful with our odd situation. We had our rear AC fail our first day in Florida (from MN) last week, and the mobile rv tech whom was suggested to us was able to spend a couple of hours yesterday and fixed things so that we do have some power in the coach, and the AC in the front continued to work. He's returning today and most likely verifying that the inverter had a problem which caused the receptacle into which the vac was plugged (and then power went away). We suspect a new inverter will be ordered, and we are lucky enough to have Wholesale Warranties insurance "" actual may be called Dealer's Assurance Corporation/Protrech "" and we'll sure talking about both kinds of inverters. I guess my main thing here is to say that it is such a feeling of support to feel that when someone posts a problem, there are excellent and knowledgable people who will answer and give suggestions. So thank you, and I'll be posting whatever this actually ends up to be.
