Duals and Tags running different size tires?

Yahoo Message Number: 105586
I'm considering moving my 12R's steers to the Tag position. Then buying 6 new 295/80's. 2 on the Steers and 4 on the Duals.

The circumference difference between the Tag 12R (BF Goodrich ST30) and the Dual 295/80 (Michelin XZE2) is 1.1". Divided by 2 = .55" ride height difference tween the Duals and Tags.

What I, and the tire shop manager that I'm working with, are not sure of, is if the Tag and Dual integrally connected? Or, are the independent of each other. If integrally connected, our concern is that the coach going into Leveled for Travel position, may want to try and 'drop' the coach .55" lower, and then overload the Tag.

Hope I asked this question correctly. And when these tires are ready to be replaced, I'd go with all 8 tires being the same size again. And if I find the 16 RPM difference between these to be too much while driving the car, I'd go to Cummins and have the speedometer/odometer adjusted. And finally, no matter what tires I put on, I'm have the alignment and ride height reset.

And note, in the research phase still, may end up just running the 6 tires I have for another season:)!

TIA,

Smitty

I had a nice email from Tom R., pointing out that I had confused circumference with diameter when doing my math. So the ride height difference is even less...

And I checked with the gang at OMC, and the said that the differences would have no impact on the tag. That the leveling system would compensate, and all would be OK.

So with XZA2 Energy available with 0416 DoT dates - I think I've made a decision to go with X's 6 295/80's (steers/drives) and retain my two young BF Goodrich ST230's 12R's on the Tag.

I see the added bonus of 295/80's being more available then the 12R's.

Going to FMCA these, and we'll see how the XZA2's roll down the road.

Best to all,

Smitty
