Replace TV

Has anyone replace the Plasma TV out of the drop celling. I have a 2003 Magna & not sure where to start.

I have replace mine Greg. To start remove all the small screws around the fiberglass trim. That will release the panel that forms the ceiling when the TV is stowed. Removing this trim will expose the four bolts that hold the TV in place so it can be removed.

To access the cabling in the ceiling there is panel that can removed when the TV is deployed. It should all be pretty self evident.

I replace my 42" Panasonic monitor with a 42" Panasonic LED TV. I redid all the cabling for my preferences. It is all very easy except for one thing. The VESA bolt mounting pattern for the TV is not replicated on the metal mount in the coach. So, I had to measure exactly where the holes needed to be in order to have the TV is the proper position. Measure ten times then drill, mount, install cables and replace trim. Much easier than having to do finish carpentry in the typical install.

I did mine by myself in two days most of which was spend measuring. Remember, the old monitor is quite heavy. I wish I had gotten help for that step.

I have a 2007 Intrigue so I'm not sure if your TV is mounted the same as mine. I recently dropped the TV out to replace the RGB cords to the stereo with an HDMI cord. The TV has a thin wood panel on the back of the TV that exposes the mounting hardware on the bottom half of the TV (midway up the back of the TV) The top half of the mounting hardware is only accessible from the compartments on either side of the TV at the top of the TV. Once the panel is removed the TV is mounted to the frame with two lengths of aluminum "L" channel that are a little longer than the width of the TV. The Aluminum channel is screwed to the rear mounting holes in the back of the TV and then the ends of the channels go over tnreaded bolts that are mounted to the wooden superstructure that surrounds the TV. Removing the nuts that hold the TV to the super structure is super difficult and the top ones are only accessible by taking out the interior of the compartments that are to the left and the right of the top of the TV. The TV is HEAVY. Do not do this alone. Removing the TV took me about 1 hour - putting it back in took 3-4 hours and a lot of head scratching and more than a couple dirty words. TIP - When putting the TV back in, I suspended the TV using a homemade web of paracord rope threaded through superstructure to hold the TV in place while I tightened bolts down. I didn't have any help and even if I had help, they couldn't have held the TV while i tightened the nuts 1/16th of a turn at a time because I couldn't get a socket in. The access is super tight - if you have large arms, forearms, you won't be able to get to the bolts that hold it up.
