fan controller programming parameters

Yahoo Message Number: 107062
I have a 2005 Magna with a Cat C-13. I wonder if someone has the programming settings for the Sauer Danfoss # 1090411. When my coach reaches 204 deg., the controller turns the fan on. When the temperature reaches about 192 degrees, the fan shuts off. This cycle is then repeated. Just wanted to verify that this is normal for this engine/controller combination.

Thanks in advance for your help

Sounds exactly like what my 2006 Magna C13 does. Usually runs about 192 F, but if it gets up to about 205 F, fan goes to high and temp drops like a rock.

Hi Fred,

That seems to be how mine works... I was told by Jake at Peterson CAT in Springfield, OR that this is the way it was designed - the thermostat gets exercised and doesn't seize up this way. Also, that we don't want the engine to run too cold or too hot - I was told 185 is too cold and 225 is too hot - should be between 195 and 210...

On my last trip over high altitude mountains in CO, in heat, I was messing around, downshifting, staying out of turbo, spinning at 2000 rpm, all to manage the temp around 200f. Then on my way home, I just blasted away in Drive, and let the coach do it for me. The coach, with all of its programming, does a better job if I leave it alone... LOL...
