Full Time RV'ing

We've been RV'ing (Motor Home) since 1996 and started Full Time in 1998. Full Time put us in a 1998 Country Coach Intrigue 36'. Our Full Time life still uses the 98 Intrigue, Nothing seems any better than what we have. Tucson now provides us with somewhat of a home base still using the MH for quarters; friends and relatives stay in the house. Keeping a Motor Home this long requires both good maintenance, repairs, and upgrades. Through the years we've been fortunate to interface with some really good folks allowing us to do just that. Wanted to pass on a few that we consider exceptional.

One of our better upgrades replaced the carpet with wood flooring. We used Ernie Ekberg in Weatherford Texas. He spent a bunch of time discussing floor options prior to us committing. Good part was his place has hook ups for several RVs and allows you to stay while the work is in progress. We are very pleased with that upgrade and after looking at other flooring on other RVs his is the best and the priced well. Anyone considering flooring should talk to him before deciding. I posted pastures of the flooring under "photos" skpjose, June 24, 2012.

For Motor and chassis work we've been very pleased with W.W. Williams in Tucson, Phoenix and Las Vegas. Prices are very competitive. They are Detroit and Allison dealers so those shop rates are set but less on chassis work, Cat and Cummins. They are part of a network called "Wheeltime" which I believe has similar shop rates. They have specials from time to time on LOF and transmission service that can save you some "dinero".

I do most of the "other" work on the MH so typically don't use Motor Home repair facilities. I've replaced shocks, ride height, air dryer, heater cores, refrigerators, hot water heater, etc. Repaired toilets, propane heater, built cabinets, installed DTV antennas and the like. When I need something specific to Country Coach Motor Home, have used Premier in Tucson. They've repaired the air system, replaced air bags, front wheel seal and brake shoes. Talked to them several times about specific systems like the HWH leveling. They have always been very responsive. In fact at the present time I've been in touch with Eric about a leveling issue and will take the coach to his facility soon (if I can't resolve). May start doing a bit less as I'm getting older and don't appreciate crawling around under the MH. Will schedule Premier and Tucson if possible.

When we are in Tucson I purchase RV accessories and parts from Sandy's RV on Miracle Mile. They are competitive with Camping World most of the time and have offered appreciated assistance in the past even when are not in Tucson. When we ordered some plumbing fixtures not in stock they brought in several for us to choose from. Very informative and had the parts when we needed to repair our 45 gallon propane tank. (BTW I had a professional do the work on the tank). They helped me more than Dometic when the A/C's started to freeze up, actually had a write up about the problem. They do RV "house system" installation and repair. Never used them for that but have talked to the repair folks and they are very knowledgeable, would not hesitate to use them.

Over the years we've been fortunate and experienced good luck with most of the professionals involved in "Keeping Us On the Road". The ones mentioned I feel are a cut above. If you want additional info on these folks, let me know.

Isnt motorhoming fun? Where else could you learn how to do so many things you didn't think you were capable of doing. And God knows there's a lot of things to do on every motorhome. One thing I do know is your motorhome should be as comfortable as your home! And when it is, you have finally succeeded!
